That is interesting. Clair gone and Raymore injured, we can use a back. Good call if it happens!!mbenecke wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 2:04 pm We don't have anyone leaving, but I just saw this on twitter and became curious.
Boston College RB David Bailey has entered the portal. In 28 games at BC (over 2 seasons) he rushed for 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns. Do we think that's a name to watch, with his connection to Loeffler in the past? RB is a room where we have some talent, but it's all super young. I could see us bringing in an older guy to be the veteran in the room. Kid is also a bruiser at 6 foot, 240. I would enjoy seeing him run dudes over in the orange and brown.

Re: Transfers
Michigan's original QB of the 2020 season, Joe Milton, is in the portal. Pure speculation here. Their previous QB to transfer was Brandon Peters and BG was a finalist. Given Loeffler's connections at Michigan, is there any chance at all BG is a possible destination for Milton?
He has unbelievable arm strength. Accuracy? Game to game. He struggled a lot last year. But when he was good he was really good.

I like the idea of a guy who can take deep shots, but the accuracy stuff makes me nervous. He'd really need to work on that, or we'd have brought in a guy at the position for pretty much nothing and potentially lose Keller/Melton in the process, if they feel like they can't have a shot to get on the field for years.

I heard Biggers is heading out. He wants to be at Safety and they have him at CB.....

I noticed he put a highlight video on Twitter and wondered if he was about to make a move. That’s usually a pretty good sign.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 7:21 am I heard Biggers is heading out. He wants to be at Safety and they have him at CB.....

Re: Transfers
Milton's accuracy makes you nervous??? Milton's pass percentage was 56.7% with a 4-4 TD-INT ratio. While that's not outstanding, consider McDoanld was DEAD LAST in the NCAA with a horrific 43.9% and a 1-6 TD-INT ratio. Milton would be a MASSIVE upgrade over McDonald, plus, he's athletic/mobile and can run the ball too.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 6:49 pmMilton seems like he could be a good MAC QB.MarkL wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 9:59 am Michigan's original QB of the 2020 season, Joe Milton, is in the portal. It would absolutely be an improvement. I just wonder a bit about what Melton/Keller could give us, and whether it would be worth bringing in a guy from the outside if it costs us either of those prospects.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 8:10 pmMilton's accuracy makes you nervous??? Re: Transfers
I have no idea whether or not he has a pre-arranged landing spot..... if he does, good for him. But, I speculate that he may join the ranks of “out of football” like nearly every other BG player in the portal is destined to be....we need him, and it looks like a poor decision. Too bad.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: Transfers
Losing Biggers is tough. He's essentially been a starting CB for the last 2 seasons, appearing in 21 games over the past 3 years. He was almost certainly going to be a starter at corner again this fall - so I honestly doubt this move was about football, at least in terms of playing time.

Re: Transfers
Seems like there has been room for *some* of them to come back (Burns, Davis), so I have to assume Biggers would be in that group, along with Ortega-Jones and maybe Clair? Curious if you've heard whether it has been a clean break from most of them.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:13 pm I have no idea whether or not he has a pre-arranged landing spot..... if he does, good for him. Re: Transfers
I believe Biggers rationale to leave was he wants to be a safety not a CB..... ? As far as taking any in the portal back, I don’t know. I wouldn’t. Sends a bad message to the teammates training hard, there everyday... I heard coach warned parents in a zoom a while back, not to test the portal, but I wasn’t on it.....I guess it would depend how thin we get, or if we are ok at x position.BillyLP wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:29 pmSeems like there has been room for *some* of them to come back (Burns, Davis), so I have to assume Biggers would be in that group, along with Ortega-Jones and maybe Clair? Re: Transfers
Dagger after dagger, they keep on coming, and they especially hurt when they are starters leaving. It's one thing when they are reserves who leave because of a lack of PT, but starters? It makes it even more painful to the program because as pointed out before, we can't simply overcome these losses with our recruiting classes because they're capped. It's still going to take years to get our scholarship numbers right, and probably more than we care to admit based on the high number of guys who continue to leave our program via the portal.mbenecke wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:27 pm Losing Biggers is tough. Re: Transfers
The fact that McDonald was our "clear starter" last year according to Loeffler, who by the way also said he would have started the year before had he been granted eligibilty, is all I need to know that we have major needs at the QB position. Keller was obviously out following his surgery, but the fact that no one else could beat out McDonald, who was the worst starting QB in the FBS by a landslide, solidifies how badly we need to improve the position.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sun Feb 21, 2021 9:06 pmIt would absolutely be an improvement. Re: Transfers
Honestly if a kid is going to transfer over not playing safety then good riddance. I can't imagine the coaches would be too upset with the decision.
