FINAL: Falcons win, 82-69.

Metheny goes for a career-high 29 on 8 triples. Turner, Fields, and Plowden each added 13. Diggs poured in 10 off the bench. Fields actually also had 10 rebounds, so he had a double double tonight.

After a slow start, a pretty easy win on the road in MAC play.

Big one in Akron on Friday night.

Metheny and 29 points may be the high water mark for Falcon Freshman. Not sure, but can t recall anyone else, as a Frosh, putting up 30 or more.

Justin Turner went for 33 in his first game of his redshirt freshman season. Does that count or is the extra year (while injured) considered cheating? Lol.

I had the pleasure of watching Corny Cash, Jeff Montgomery and that crew when they played at BG. Cash was on the last freshman team BG had so he didn't begin his varsity career until he was a sophomore. But in his first season, he did score 32 against Loyola (Chicago). Montgomery was also a 1,000 point scorer on that team and he may have scored more than 30 during a game his first season, but I could not find his stats.

Also would be doing an injustice if no one pointed out that Fields was only 3 assists short of a triple double and had just 1 turnover.

This team has been a MUCH better team offensively since moving Fields to the point and Metheny playing more of a 2 guard.

Yep. Matheny has been coming it up. If moving off the ball a bit is what has fixed his shot so be it. That kid has serious scoring ability. We need it

This team still doesn't play defense, rebound or run an offense.
