@ Akron (2/26)
Riding a 3-game win streak, our Falcons (13-9, 8-7 MAC) next head to Akron, OH on Friday night to take on the Akron Zips (14-5, 12-4 MAC) on national TV. The game will be played at 7:00pm and broadcast on CBSSN.
This is a big game for us - it's time we start gearing up for the tournament, and this is the type of opponent we're likely to see in Cleveland. So, it's important that we're sharp in this one, and it needs to be that way from the start for us to have a chance. Akron is coming in after a puzzling 17-point loss to Ohio, but with them beating us by 12 in the Stroh a few weeks ago, it's clear we shouldn't be taking Akron lightly.
Go Falcons !

Re: @ Akron (2/26)
Akron has had some of the more puzzling losses of the year (that's who EMU's only MAC win came against). They also have some of the best talent in the league. I've been encouraged by the last few games offensively, seeing that there are now four legitimate players who could drop 20-25 points on any given night for BG. I'm hoping that they will continue the strategy of riding the hot hands and dominating on offense, because defense just is not great and I don't think that's going to get fixed this year.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 1:31 pm Riding a 3-game win streak, our Falcons (13-9, 8-7 MAC) next head to Akron, OH on Friday night to take on the Akron Zips (14-5, 12-4 MAC) on national TV. BG has officially clinched a spot in the MAC tournament, due to other results around the league.

Don’t know if matheny will miss again this season
Re: @ Akron (2/26)
With the way the game has changed its probably not going out on much of a limb but I think Matheny leaves BG as the career 3pt leader of he stays all 4 years. Kid is the shooter we hoped frye would become.

Falcons put on an 11-3 run to end the half and lead 38-37
Swinge has 9 points along with Metheny.

These must be the worst announcers that ESPN has!
Re: @ Akron (2/26)
Turner had an absolutely awful half. Turnovers, forced shots, a whole lotta crap.
Matheny lit it up to start then cooled on offense but he actually played LCJ pretty well, imo.
Swingle gave us some of the best minutes he's played. It still looks like an adventure catching the ball but he managed to make those catches off the pick'n'roll and take advantage of being 3" taller than anybody else on the floor.

A Fields slam leads to an Akron timeout with 5:12 to play.
BG leads 70-63.
Sweaty palms time.

Re: @ Akron (2/26)
Big call here gives Justin Turner a flagrant foul. Didn’t look intentional, but he caught LCJ in the forehead while trying to block a shot, and they get 2 shots and the ball here. Tough mistake.
