If that is indeed the reasoning as I was told, then I tend to agree. I don’t get kids toying with a D1 scholarship. Even at BG in it’s current state....it’s a pretty good gig, especially if you are a starter! The selfishness of that move (I preface this again, IF true) is mind numbing.

Their previous QB to transfer was Brandon Peters and BG was a finalist. Given Loeffler's connections at Michigan, is there any chance at all BG is a possible destination for Milton?

He has unbelievable arm strength. Accuracy? Game to game. He struggled a lot last year. But when he was good he was really good.
Milton seems like he could be a good MAC QB.

I like the idea of a guy who can take deep shots, but the accuracy stuff makes me nervous. He'd really need to work on that, or we'd have brought in a guy at the position for pretty much nothing and potentially lose Keller/Melton in the process, if they feel like they can't have a shot to get on the field for years.
Milton's accuracy makes you nervous??? Milton's pass percentage was 56.7% with a 4-4 TD-INT ratio. While that's not outstanding, consider McDoanld was DEAD LAST in the NCAA with a horrific 43.9% and a 1-6 TD-INT ratio. Milton would be a MASSIVE upgrade over McDonald, plus, he's athletic/mobile and can run the ball too.
It would absolutely be an improvement. I just wonder a bit about what Melton/Keller could give us, and whether it would be worth bringing in a guy from the outside if it costs us either of those prospects.
The fact that McDonald was our "clear starter" last year according to Loeffler, who by the way also said he would have started the year before had he been granted eligibilty, is all I need to know that we have major needs at the QB position. Keller was obviously out following his surgery, but the fact that no one else could beat out McDonald, who was the worst starting QB in the FBS by a landslide, solidifies how badly we need to improve the position.
I have no use for Milton. He was absolutely horrible for Michigan. Yes, he would be an "upgrade" from our play last year, but not enough to bring him in for a year or two. Plus, I have no confidence in Loeffler's ability to "coach him up." I'd rather let one of our freshman or young guys (currently on roster or incoming) play and grow into the job. Trouble is, Loeffler needs to win now to save his job. That means decisions will be made based on "coach survival" rather than what's actually best for the program.

I do not believe that to be accurate. The athletic department knows the mess Loeffler inherited. Other coaches know the mess he inherited. Nobody in their sane mind would endorse a coaching change after three years ... one of which was covid craziness ... given the mess he found. He will and should be given plenty of time to show results.

All of what you wrote is valid but there's also the financial impact of Covid on college athletics, and to BG in particular. There's simply no way to buy out any kind of contract these days, so whoever is coaching will most likely to continue coaching until their contract is up.

Lol, come on, really? The athletic department has a budget shortfall of $800,000 and we're talking about potentially firing a coach a year after covid absolutely wrecked the college sports landscape, and in particular left BG in really bad shape? He's going to see it through to the end of his contract and be judged upon that, end of story.

I agree he is not, and should not be on any hot seat today. If we look like we did Covid Fall 2020 all season 2021, then we have a problem..... We need 5 wins, and competitive in others, to feel GOOD moving forward. Anything less will leave a lot of doubters.

Couple of updates on people in the portal:

Caleb Biggers has picked up offers from Boise State and UConn so far.
Julian Ortega-Jones has an offer from North Alabama.

Haven't seen any other new offers from people in the portal in the last few weeks.

Interesting. North Alabama was D2, transitioning to D1 FCS this year.... that is where ex BG lineman Joe Maxwell ended up.... I think he is from Alabama.

Might be thinking of another school. North Alabama moved up in 2018.

This is definitely a step up in conference, but I think he'll win less there than he would have here. The Arizona program is in shambles after an 0-5 season, firing Sumlin, and seeing a ton of players leave (I assume leading to the opening that Roberts could fill). It will certainly help with exposure, though, if he's trying to get to the next level.

I was surprised about Arizona, but then learned they are in disarray, so I would agree with above. Seems hard to believe, but word is Clair is being considered at Northwestern..... not sure if they still employ that “superback” that doesn’t fit him....

As expected some of the players transfer out and Bowling Green fans make claims to downplay the upgrade they made. Remember, a week ago nobody was going to find a home. For example, somehow a guy goes from Bowling Green to literally any Pac 12 school and somehow he will win less. Better school, better conference, better record, better everything. Next up, downplay the Clair upgrade. Rinse and repeat.
