Spring Ball 2021

Post by roguewarrior »

Spring Practice begins Thursday. Intent is to not wipe them out physically as was the format last two springs. Spring 2019 was a death March. Very thin, body wise until next class arrives. New special teams coach is here, but not introduced yet.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

The Spring Game should be on April 10. There have been no details announced.

Don't know if it's been noted before...Per Strack on twitter..Macdonald had shoulder surgery in Jan and will miss all of spring ball
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Loeffler said that McDonald played all year on a bad shoulder. Which tells me two things. One, the weird throwing motion was due at least in part to injury or overcompensating from injury. And two, QB depth was razor thin.

Melton was out. I think Keller was in and out with injury, but clearly not ready. Labronz was the #2 and only.... McDonald had to play.

It certainly wasn't his throwing motion here.

I think his release looks a lot quicker in his senior year highlight video than it did last year. Still looks a smidge funky, but he could throw on the run and he was able to get the ball away much faster than this past fall. So now the question becomes, was it injury or was it coaching that changed his throwing motion to... whatever it was this fall?

Same throwing motion he had in 2019 so unless he has been injured that long, shouldn't be different. I still don't get how no one from here noticed it back then.

As rogue said, QB depth last year was razor thin.

I think he always had an odd motion. I think it was exasperated by the injury in Fall.

As a result, spring practice will be a competition for the No. 1 spot between all the other QBs on the roster, Loeffler said. When McDonald is available this fall (and he is expected to be), then look for a one-on-one competition for the starting job between McDonald and the spring ball No. 1.

McDonald does not seem to be a lock to keep the starting job; Loeffler said McDonald knows he didn't play well and that he needs to play better. He added that McDonald was hurting.

I think he is nursing something right now, may not get full spring action. May hinder him.... he has a live arm, that’s all I know.

New Special teams coach in. Serious resume!! I’ll let them make the announcement. He may have the most impressive resume on the staff.

Did the new special teams coach have his glory days in the 1990s?

What's sad is the days spent trolling this board are your "glory days"....
