Just some good natured ribbing, people. I don't mean anything by it. No, I am not AJ. I respect your team and program. I, simply, took offense to being generalized with all Mav fans that have rubbed you the wrong way in the past. I admire most UNO fans zeal, but I could see how some take it as bothersome. As for my familiarity with the afforementioned devices...uh...well...no comment. I am sure the "incident" was just some hazing. Good Luck in the tourney and maybe we will see ya at the JOE.

I don't understand how BG fans will generalize UNO fans, but then they get mad when we (UNO fans) generalize them. If you don't want to be all clumped together, then why do you do it to UNO fans. Also don't get pissed that a UNO fan or two comes onto your board to rant. After all, this all started with a BG fan poking fun at UNO. Also, The Red Army is a fine group of people. When have you ever known one to come up to you and rant in your face. In fact they'll probably do the opposite. And as for AJ, he's not the only sports fan to throw down. If you don't like it, don't read it. Now I have no intention to piss people off, I'm only stating my opinion. If BG fans are mad that we don't come there, or play harder teams, etc. take it up with the CCHA, not the fans. Don't burn UNO fans for being proud of their team, even if they didn't play "better" teams more often. Just suck it up, both teams got home ice, that's all that matters. Good luck to your team, and I hope we can meet on nuetral territory at The Joe.

No one is generalizing any group of fans here. All we are saying is that there are a handful of UNO fans that are just asses. For example, we make a single comment about UNO in a thread COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO UNO on a message board COMPLETELY UNRELATED TO UNO and your fans feel the need to come over here and defend your Mav honor. The same thing happened several months ago when I made a pretty benign comment about UNO on a post at miamihawktalk.com. That thread started out simply and quickly turned into a 3-page flame war against BG on another schools website.MavsHockey wrote:I don't understand how BG fans will generalize UNO fans, but then they get mad when we (UNO fans) generalize them. Frued would probably say that UNO fans like this who have the insatiable need to address every remotely negative comment made about UNO results from having small members. And, while that is probably pretty true, I also think it is a result of several UNO fans having no lives whatsoever. I'm not saying all UNO fans, just losers like you and AJ. It must be nice to have the time in your lives to troll the internet looking for fights, but it doesn't say much about your University and the employment opportunities that it provides.
Bottom line -- get a life and get out of here. Unless you are here to rationally talk hockey (and not make comments about a situation that you know nothing about (suspension incident)), you are NOT WANTED here, and I'm sure your fans aren't very receptive of you on your own board.
Good luck to UNO in the playoffs, but good luck to you, sir, on the member-enlargement and employment efforts.

Oh, and MavsHockey, I did just go and read the thread at mavpuck concerning this thread, and let me ask you who is generalizing? Apparently us BG fans are all borderline retarded and have Toledo envy.
You are truly a doushebag ([sic] as AJMav likes to spell it).
I'll not do UNO fans the credit of linking to their thread, but I would like to point out that AJ himself has his own blog: http://ajthoughts.blogspot.com/
Thought he was a loser who had no life before, but man...

Last time I check I did mention that I wasn't trying to piss anyone off, it is mearly my opinion. And also the last time I saw myself in the mirrior, I didn't have a member. If you don't like UNO so much then don't talk about them. UNO fans dropped the rants about you a long time ago, but once again BG fans brought UNO into the conversation. And remember YOU my good sir, were the one who flamed UNO on MIAMI's board. SO don't get mad that we come here. Sure there are some UNO fans that can be a little over the edge sometimes, but once again most of them are not. Are you saying that not a single BG fan has EVER gotten too emotional about the team and sport they love? Maybe AJ is heard the loudest, but that doesn't mean anything to other school's fans, why does it mean so much to you? Others have learned to just take it with a grain of salt, try doing the same.

Yes, if you would like to do some research look back at MavPuck and see how many pages back you would have to go to find ANYTHING about BG. Now go to page 3 of this thread and see what it says. Then take yourself back to MavPuck to see when UNO fans started talking about BG. But I'm done trying to rationalize this, so go ahead and talk more about UNO. I don't need to explain why I defend my team.Oh reeeeeaaaaaaaaaaalllly...

I guess this is what started this whole thing. I asked a simple question about how the "rivalry" started. It was thoroughly explained to me. At that point it should have stopped. But it didn't. Uno_fan's post was informative. Jimmyomaha is just a troll. He came here with nothing worthwhile to say and was just trying to start a fight. It looks like he succeeded.pdt1081 wrote:You know, that is a question that has really never been answered for me. Why do they hate us? I know why WE hate (and deservingly so) them, but have never figured out what we did to them. I mean, they always get to play us at home. Only one weekend have they ever been to BG. Is it just because we got their buddy two-gun (Graf) fired?Freddie wrote:I'll bet the UNO fans are realy conflicted this weekend...they all hate us with a passion, and need us to get swept in order to keep 4th place. But that means they have to root for UM to win the conference title...and UNO hates the wolverines almost as much as they hate us.
As for everbody else, I think this thread needs to be locked up or left for dead. It will not have a happy ending. All that is happening is people are getting pissed off at what other people think. Yes, you can say what you think. Just remember where you are. This is a Bowling Green site. Think about why you are here. Are you here to add something worthwhile to this site, or are you here to piss people off. It's the internet just like everybody says. But if you know something is going to piss someone else off, don't say it. Or if someting pisses you off, let it go. Become the bigger person.

I start a whole thread on Nebraska-Omaha hockey, and get no response from Mav country.

The problem with that is, it's the first and only impression many people have of him. Put yourself on the other side of the internet and imagine that you've never met him. The only thing that you read is constant whining about Scott Hewson, Buddy Powers, etc., etc. Or about an unfortunate hazing type incident that was leaked out, or any number of other things. What would you think of him? What would you think of the program he represents? What would you think of the others that think he's a swell guy?uno_fan wrote:Like AJ said on his blog, they are words on the internet.
You people take things so freakin' seriously. If you've ever met him he's one of the nicest guys in the world....
'Nuff said.
I've pretty much learned to ignore him, unfortunately there are those here who are just recently learning about all things dealing with the BG hockey program, AJ and the rest of UNO included. A resurgence in the program will do that. My assumption is that most will learn to ignore him as I have. I've been to Omaha and have had the pleasure of meeting MavRick and a few others. You have great fans and it's a great city....unfortunately for you, you have a few fans that turn a great many people off, and make it very difficult to like or respect your program.
BleedingOrange, you really need to lighten up. I admire your enthusiasm about the program, but don't let a few ill chosen words set you off. When you do, AJ and whomever else is pulling your chain, wins.

BGFan,
I wasn't trying to get worked up at all. I was only trying to point out that one of the big problems I and others see with *some* of UNO's fans is that they obviously are trolling the internet looking for any excuse to start a fight, and frankly I'm getting pretty tired of it. It has happened to me not only here but on miamihawktalk.com as well. Its ridiculous that intelligent conversations about hockey are interrupted by comments about naked hockey players. Absolutely ridiculous.
You are right, though, that I probably did go a bit overboard, and I won't let that happen again. My opinions of the situation are already aired.
As for most of UNO's fans, I do in fact like them very much. I've had a great deal of positive interaction with CoachRahe and several others. It certainly isn't UNO's entire fanbase that is the problem, but the part that is the problem is a bit larger than most schools can be credited with.
All I hope is that if we do end up meeting at the Joe that we can have some intelligent conversations about hockey with one another and not a flame war instead.

Most people in Omaha are good sports fans who just want to watch their team do well. Sad as it may be there are few people who get out of line and spew crap out of their mouth like its a bad case of the runs. I have been in the chat room on nights were my beloved mavs are away, and witnessed several of these "red army" people bad mouth fans of the same team. To me thats just foolish it should be an area where people support the team together. oddly enough, I watch and these people with a third grade mentality pick on people for no reason. One time it was because they did not like a screen name. So as a UNO fan that likes the same team but maybe sees things differently Id like to let you know thiat this group is not the majority.
