We are going to go hard after Juco/Grad/Xfers this offseason. We have at least one scholarship available, likely at least 4 (if all the seniors leave) and up to 6 (if guys like Swingle and Matiss leave) still available. We have already signed one big.

We went from being very deep at G to being very thin.
1 Fields 6-2 Sr
2 Metheny 5-11 So
3 Fulcher 6-2 So Young 6-6 So
4 Turner 6-7 Jr Etim 6-8 Fr Kulackovskis 6-9 Sr (r)
5 Swingle 6-11 Jr (t) Washington 6-8 Sr

Here are our offers
1
2 Cole Farrell 6-3 7-29-20 Corey Tripp 6-3 6-27-19
3 Micheal Jefferson 6-6 7-23-20 Aaron Lemon-Warren 6-5 7-8-19
4 Anquan Hill 6-8 9-19-20
5

Braelen Bridges 6-10 225 UIC XFER (Was a Juco at NW Florida St College and would have overlapped with Diggs for 1 year)

(This is really interesting, obviously knows Diggs well, would come and start immediately. Of the 3 Srs Diggs is probably the most likely to return having played only 2 years of D1 ball.

I would bet on Swingle transferring. I can't imagine the guy had any fun this year as the "starting C" who plays less than 10 mins a game roll, if I was Huger I would tell Washington he can stay at BGSU if he wants but he'd better find a good intramural team.

I also get a bad vibe at times watching Fields. I hope I'm wrong because he's one of my favorite players in recent history at BG, but there were multiple games this year where he basically sat the bench the second half of the game in favor of Fulcher. I hope I'm wrong and we see him back this year.

They aren't even officially listed as an offer for him but the word around here is Corey Tripp is going to YSU.

Yes. Samari Curtis, a 6'4 guard, just transferred in from Evansville, where he averaged 10.1 points and 3 rebounds in 22 minutes per game on 45% from the field, 38% from deep, and 77% from the free throw line. He's a Xenia, OH native, and he started his college career at Nebraska.

In high school, he had offers from Dayton, Xavier, Cincinnati, and and Virginia Tech. He was Ohio's Mr. Basketball in 2019, and he averaged 34 points per game his senior year of HS.

He was committed to Xavier until Chris Mack left for Louisville, when he switched his commitment to Cincinnati. When Mick Cronin left for UCLA, he switched his commitment to Nebraska. His coach at Nebraska, Tim Miles, got fired while he was there, so he decided to transfer to Evansville. Not sure why he left there, though. Just glad he's a Falcon.

Just went into the portal last week.

Originally committed to Xavier while at Xenia. Decommitted from X and signed an NLI with Cincinnati. UC released him from the NLI and then signed with Nebraska.

Should be interesting.

He was a stud high school for sure. This is exciting. Does he have to sit a year?

This is huge. I remember watching him at Xenia destroy my old high school and dreaming of him coming to BG but there were several high major coaches there watching him so I knew it was far-fetched. He is a guy who could step in right where Justin Turner left off.

His game is similar to Turners but less polished I would say. Decent 3, good on the drive, good midrange. This would be his fourth year so unless he's already graduated for some reason I'm assuming he has to sit a year, unless they waive that again.

I think this would be his 3rd season, right? 2019-2020 with Nebraska, 2020-2021 with Evansville, and now here at BG?

I imagine they are going to be lax on transfers again this year with the weirdness, and this puts him closer to home.

He redshirted at Nebraska in 18-19 apparently. So next year would be his 4th season with 3 seasons of eligibility I think since this season didn't count.

Interesting. He's listed as a member of the 2019 class on 247, and with him being Ohio Mr. Basketball in 2019, I think he's only entering his 3rd season in college. He wasn't listed on Nebraska's 18-19 roster, but he was for 19-20.

Regardless, he should have 2 or 3 more years of eligibility, which is nice for us. I wonder a bit if he'll start or if he'll be a spark off the bench. I thought Fulcher seemed destined to start at the 3 this coming year, with Metheny at the 1 and Fields at the 2. Perhaps he's a spark guy this year and he slots in at the 2 after Fields graduates next year? It's a good problem to have, having "too many" talented guards/wings on the roster.

Judging from his moves and some things I've read about him, I tend to think he was only going to choose a school that plans to start him right away.

Well, Curtis actually shoots decent %s from FT and 3FG. And, he can finish at the rim.

Curtis has a quick first step and gets to full speed quickly. Good footwork. Quick hands, gets steals.
