Re: Transfers
Not sure what Van Gorder has to do with a kid retiring because of Bad knees? I would put that one squarely on Kit Hughes.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Re: Transfers
Andrew Clair is officially heading to Northwestern.
Congrats to that kid - if he can stay healthy, he's a major problem on the field.

That's a very good school and probably a bit closer to his family. I wish him the best. He was sure fun to watch play these past few years.
Re: Transfers
Clair to Northwestern, Biggers to Boise St, Roberts to Arizona. Almost out of football just like dad predicted.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Mon Feb 22, 2021 3:13 pm I have no idea whether or not he has a pre-arranged landing spot..... if he does, good for him. But, I speculate that he may join the ranks of “out of football” like nearly every other BG player in the portal is destined to be....we need him, and it looks like a poor decision. Too bad.

Re: Transfers
I guess you forgot to count the other 12 transfers over the last two years that did not end up anywhere. As usual, you miss all the important points..... every transfer is not the loss of great talent that is the direct result off some defect in the coaching staff. If a kid has the chops for bigger and better, more power to them. The reality is the majority in the portal are there for a reason, and will remain there....guest44 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 08, 2021 2:08 pmClair to Northwestern, Biggers to Boise St, Roberts to Arizona. You also didn’t read what I said.... “if he does have a pre arranged landing spot, good for him”. You remain a nasty human being.

Re: Transfers
I caught on to all the important parts. A team that wasn’t even competitive has lost nearly 1/3 of its 2020 starters via transfer. That same team that wasn’t competitive has added next to nothing and probably has no answer at quarterback in 2021. My concern is that this Michigan glory days coaching staff, which includes guys out of college football or nearly out of football, is going to field and even more putrid product in 2021.
Stage went to Western Kentucky also. All upgraded, which is the opposite of your prediction listed above. If the last two weeks have taught us anything those other 12 will probably find a place to play football and not be “out of football” because they chose to leave BGSU. When’s the next random drug test? Or was that just an 0-4 pandemic thing?

Not trying to get in the middle of this, but genuinely curious:guest44 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 7:17 am I caught on to all the important parts. Do you truly believe we have no answer at QB, even though we haven't seen a snap from Keller or Melton, the latter of whom was injured this fall? If so, what makes you believe that? I mean, both of our young guys were ranked pretty well and had lots of good offers. Is it doubting Loeffler or doubting those kids?

Re: Transfers
Yes. I have no faith in Loeffler after seeing a coach put two years (maybe more) in this throwing motion.

Re: Transfers
Ha. Fair.
I tend to trust these kids/their abilities, and root for their success. I think either Melton or Keller could be the guy that leads us back to the top, but to each his own.

Re: Transfers
Loeffler presser yesterday he noted that there are approximately 2500 players in the portal and 150 scholarships. So, are some of these transfers trading a scholarship for a walk-on elsewhere? I think the BG to Arizona kid noted full ride on his social media.... Coach also noted they haven’t clarified the rules yet. It is a reality that some of the starters we lost, knew that they would not be starting anymore.... not all, but some for sure. Bottom line, this is not some mass exodus due to the coaches. If you choose not to believe that, then don’t. I’m not a coach’s wife, I’m simply noting what I know.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: Transfers
Does it really matter what the exodus is caused by? I do know that this coaching staff was openly discussing the need to run guys off months after being hired at BGSU. They would discuss that to anyone who would listen. The main transfer they have brought in has the throwing motion above. They put two year or more in someone with that throwing motion. He had the worst completion percentage in all of football. I’ll believe the evaluation the players behind them are so much better when I see it. I’ve got the Loeffler, VanGorder & Morrison coaching track record to go off of. Each are a complete opposite trajectory to that of the BGSU model of Clawson, it is being compared too. Clawson had rebuilt over and over. Loeffler has job jumped mostly, and not by choice. So far it’s 3-14 and I can’t look at the roster and see a single position of strength in 2021 compared to other teams in the MAC.
Also, what would you expect Loeffler to say about the transfer portal? His peers in the MAC are using it to find Power 5 talent, he openly talks bad about it like it’s Michigan in the 1990’s. It’s very possible we see a former player transfer to another MAC school very soon.

Re: Transfers
I see first hand movement forward with training methodology, nutrition, scheme change and coaching assignments. We are stronger and healthier. Like it or not, many of the players gone were not part of the solution. I’m sure a few were.... there IS a growing camaraderie. The O line will be mostly the young guys... who seem to be bringing it in the weight room, and have an edge to them. I think we lacked an edge there. I was wavering on the staff a bit after the season, but I have renewed optimism, from what is happening. We have to be patient I guess, until we can troll the portal for talent. We don’t have that luxury yet.
