Agree with this. Sub .500 teams should not get into the tournament, period. I don't care what conference they play in.

Re: NCAA Tournament Watch
St. Lawrence beats Quinnipiac to steal a bid (and now a 3-team league is likely getting 2 bids) and we're now almost certainly out.
At least I don't have to watch the Selection Show anymore.

Yep. They steal a bid in a farce of a year anyways with the ECAC only playing four schools. Also knocks out Denver.

We’ll see about Denver. There’s been a whole lot of chatter for them.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 7:00 pm Yep. They steal a bid in a farce of a year anyways with the ECAC only playing four schools. Also knocks out Denver.
I think this is a year where the committee is struggling to find 16 teams that are truly worthy. It’s more like 12 and then a handful that you just kinda have to close your eyes and grab from a hat.
Regardless, the ECAC didn’t deserve more than one bid this year. Quinnipiac should’ve been declared their champion and representative after Clarkson shut down their season. Instead, we get to watch 6-8-3 St. Lawrence lose by 11 goals against North Dakota. Not good for the sport.

AIC is in, Lake well on their way. UMass up by 1 late in the 3rd. If all holds there will be three at-large bids.

John Buccigross has BG getting in the tournament, leaving out Bemidji, Providence, and Denver in the process. I guess we’ll see.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 9:23 pm AIC is in, Lake well on their way. UMass up by 1 late in the 3rd. If all holds there will be three at-large bids.
His list went:
North Dakota, Boston College, Minnesota, Minnesota State, UMass, St. Cloud State, Wisconsin, Minnesota Duluth, Michigan, Boston University, Omaha, Bowling Green, Lake Superior State, Quinnipiac, AIC, and St. Lawrence.

I would be totally stunned if BG makes the NCAA Tournament. I don't see it happening.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 10:02 pmJohn Buccigross has BG getting in the tournament, leaving out Bemidji, Providence, and Denver in the process. As crazy as this year has been, nothing would really surprise me at this point. I'm guessing the coaches have explained to the players that a small chance exists. If they don't make it, I expect at least one contract signing announced Monday.Hockey John wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 11:06 pmI would be totally stunned if BG makes the NCAA Tournament. If we make it in, Bemidji will have been completely screwed over. Also, we'll need to send a big thank you gift to Clarkson.

Re: NCAA Tournament Watch
Let's be realistic too - in a normal year with everyone playing BG most likely is in the 20s in the Pairwise.

Re: NCAA Tournament Watch
Very possible. The wins over Quinnipiac would've helped us, but the failure to beat the rest of the top of the league would sink our ship.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 11:03 amLet's be realistic too - in a normal year with everyone playing BG most likely is in the 20s in the Pairwise.
I think the only things we have going for us in a Bemidji argument would be that we finished higher in the regular season standings and that we technically are ranked higher in this year's broken version of the Pairwise, which is mostly useless but can help compare teams from the same league.
I dunno. I can live with pretty much anything but being left out for Denver - I just don't think a sub .500 team belongs anywhere near an at-large conversation.

Re: NCAA Tournament Watch
Another question nobody has asked, will the committee take into account Covid problems on teams. BG is one of the only teams that did not have to cancel or reschedule games due to Covid protocols.Critical Thinker wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 9:55 am If we make it in, Bemidji will have been completely screwed over.
