Another question nobody has asked, will the committee take into account Covid problems on teams. BG is one of the only teams that did not have to cancel or reschedule games due to Covid protocols.
Can't see that scenario playing out. Even if a team like North Dakota played let's say 15 games, do we really think they're not going to take them? The only school I can see being judged that way is Boston U, but the powers that be are going to ensure they make it.

That's why this year was a great opportunity for BG and why them blowing it is incredibly frustrating. They played as much of a regular season as possible and won road games against good competition, but simply couldn't hold up their end of the bargain in league play.

One more goal somewhere in the league schedule and they end up in the 2 hole against UAH and probably get to Mankato where this year showed anything was possible, and probably get in as an at-large.

I’m as critical of BG Hockey as anybody...I think the program is extremely overrated and would be a bottom half program in the old CCHA every year. However, even for my expectations this was an epic collapse. There is no excuse...they should have been an automatic addition to this tournament.

FWIW, Mike McMahon from CHN has BG in and Quinnipiac/Bemidji fighting for the final spot.

Here's how I see the bracket if the committee goes with Bemidji State over Quinnipiac

FARGO

(1) North Dakota vs. (4) Bemidji State

(2) Minnesota State vs. (3) Minnesota Duluth

LOVELAND

(1) Minnesota vs. (4) Bowling Green

(2) Michigan vs. (3) Nebraska-Omaha

BRIDGEPORT

(1) Massachusetts vs. (4) AIC

(2) St. Cloud State vs. (3) Boston University

ALBANY

(1) Boston College vs. (4) St. Lawrence

(2) Wisconsin vs. (3) Lake Superior State

Apparently St. Lawrence has covid issues and may need to forfeit their spot. High drama tonight.

EDIT - St. Lawrence has declined their auto bid.

Apparently it was SLU's coach that had a positive test, so they're declining their autobid. What does this do to your projection, folks?

I think what makes the most sense is BG getting their spot as they went 2-0 against QU. Only seems fair to me. Canisius may end up getting it though.

Officially, Quinnipiac has earned the ECAC's automatic bid. But the ECAC is only placing one now.

Here's how I see it. My guess at the field (numbers are only to keep track for me, definitely not seeding):
1. BC
2. North Dakota (NCHC)
3. Mankato
4. UMass (Hockey East)
5. SCSU
6. Minnesota (Big Ten)
7. Wisconsin
8. Michigan
9. Duluth
10. LSSU (WCHA)
11. Boston U
12. Quinnipiac (ECAC)
13. AIC (Atlantic)

So 3 spots for this group:
BG
Denver
Omaha
Bemidji
Providence
UConn

Notre Dame belongs on that list. You can scratch Denver and UConn.

BG
Omaha
Bemidji
Providence
ND
Canisius

Unfortunately I think the committee will take the easy way and place Canisius or Providence for SLU because of ease of travel.

Even still, take a look at my list. Who fills the other 2 spots, then, if Canisus/Providence steal an eastern bid? Bemidji and Omaha?

Possible, but I think that's a load of crap. I don't think either 11-6 Canisius or 11-9-5 Providence have better total resumes than we do...

Bemidji is likely in. Omaha probably gets the other spot.

Bemidji is likely in. LSSU's coach is on the committee and said he believes Bemidji is a tournament team last night. Omaha probably gets the other spot.
I can live with Bemidji and Omaha taking bids. I will have more of an issue if either of the other 2 get bids solely because of where they play instead of based on their resumes. Is it our fault that we're a flight away from every regional? (rhetorical)

This just got crazy. I'm enjoying the drama - but I'd hate to be on the outside looking in after all of this.

McMahon's updated bracket FWIW (he's behind a pay wall).

FARGO

(1) North Dakota vs. (4) Bemidji State

(2) Minnesota State vs. (3) Minnesota Duluth

LOVELAND

(1) Minnesota vs. (4) Bowling Green

(2) Michigan vs. (3) Nebraska-Omaha

BRIDGEPORT

(1) Massachusetts vs. (4) Quinnipiac

(2) St. Cloud State vs. (3) Boston University

ALBANY

(1) Boston College vs. (4) AIC

(2) Wisconsin vs. (3) Lake Superior State

I guess we'll see what happens in a little less than two hours.

I could certainly live with that projection. I’ll just be happy if we’re in, for the 2nd time in 3 years and technically 2 tournaments in a row.

The wait is killing me.
