Re: Offseason Thread
Updated after the Eigner video. Leaving Gould off for now as I'm not sure what his status is. This includes expected recruits for 2021-22. I don't envision all of them coming on board but as you can see there's really not much room for the guys in the portal to come back to.

Re: Offseason Thread
I feel somewhat confident that Gould may be back. It would be his 6th year in college (5th playing hockey, after sitting out 2019-2020), but he's already enrolled in a masters program here at BG, and I feel like the kid will want to play a "real" year here with fans in the building and whatnot, especially after his injury cut his lone season here short.
I think it would be fantastic if we could bring him back for another season.

Re: Offseason Thread
A line of Gould, Craggs, and young Schneider (who is rumored to play similar to L. Craggs). Do you want BG to set a record for penalty minutes? I feel like that's how you set a record for penalty minutes. I don't think there would be much worry about cheap shots during games.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 8:48 am I feel somewhat confident that Gould may be back. Fingers crossed CCHA officiating isn't anywhere close to WCHA standards.pdt1081 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 9:29 amA line of Gould, Craggs, and young Schneider (who is rumored to play similar to L. Re: Offseason Thread
They are working on an agreement with the B1G to share officials. The fact the CCHA reforming is the second league formed to get away from Derek Shepard speaks volumes about the WCHA.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 11:03 am

Re: Offseason Thread
Not sure who Derek Shepard is, but Greg Shepherd is the current Director of Officiating for the WCHA. Shep is pretty respected in that role, but has had to deal with most of the experienced on-ice officials taking jobs with the Big 10 and NCHC.
Kevin Langseth has already been named the CCHA Director of Officiating and he’s got a pretty good resume as well.

Re: Offseason Thread
Knew I should have looked that up. Pretty sure Derek is is Greg's brother, also a referee. On the record, he's probably well respected. Then again, he's also in one of those positions most coaches won't publicly criticize. Considering that was one of the positions the NCHC schools wanted to change before they left, I think we can draw our own conclusions.BGDrew wrote: ↑Wed Mar 31, 2021 1:14 pm Not sure who Derek Shepard is, but Greg Shepherd is the current Director of Officiating for the WCHA. According to CHN, Tim Theocharidis is a grad transfer to ASU, so good on him for graduating early.

Re: Offseason Thread
Apparently this was reported on March 26 and nobody even knew about it. Pretty wild - definitely seems like Theo was planning to head west before/by the time the season ended.BGhockeyfan94 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 12:22 pm According to CHN, Tim Theocharidis is a grad transfer to ASU, so good on him for graduating early.

Good for Theo and I'm glad he won't be in the CCHA lol.

Re: Offseason Thread
Our good friend Rico Blasi is rumored to be the coach at St. Thomas. Back in the CCHA.

Re: Offseason Thread
I hadn’t realized Rico was college teammates with Trent Eigner, Ty’s brother and the recent head coach at Lakeville North HS in Minnesota, a BG pipeline.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 7:45 pm Our good friend Rico Blasi is rumored to be the coach at St. Thomas. Back in the CCHA.
I wonder if he gets a call about an assistant job. If so, I wonder if he gets any of his former players (including the Schneider brothers and Max Johnson) to follow him to St. Thomas.

Re: Offseason Thread
Hopefully it works out for him. He kind of disappeared on the ice around December. He started the season out like he was going to fill the hole left by Rauhauser, but slowly faded away.BGhockeyfan94 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 01, 2021 12:22 pm According to CHN, Tim Theocharidis is a grad transfer to ASU, so good on him for graduating early.
