Let's put it this way, in a year where EVERY team can return EVERY starter because EVERY player gets essentially a free year, as of today (and we know more defections are coming), BG is only returning 3 starters on offense and 7 on defense. That is putrid. That's only 10 starters returning from a possible 22 allowed, which is extremely low nationally. And a large number of those guys leaving are doing so via transferring (8 of the 12 starters lost have transferred). As of right now, BG has lost 4 starters on offense via transfer (Clair, Stage, Ortega-Jones and Ware), 4 starters on defense via transfer (Roberts, Coleman, Biggers and Walder), 4 offensive starters who decided not to return (Morris, Tanner-Blair, Downs and Motes), and several players who played that either transferred or decided not to return on both offense (Denley, Massey, etc) and defense (Johnson-Mack, Redding, Rahmaan, etc).

I saw a figure last week that showed a large number of schools that will be returning nearly every starter (a bunch of schools were listed at 20 or more), which obviously means almost everyone is going to return for them. There were a ton of schools in the 17-20 range as well. Returning starter records are being blown out of the water nationally. Then there is BG, who is way, way, way behind the national average. And unlike a lot of others schools that lost starters who transferred, many of those schools replaced those guys by bringing in transfers who started at other schools themselves in return. But BG is not, and can not. We are simply getting bombarded.
Good points. What remains to be seen is of the replacements are equal or better than the losses. That will prove out good or a disaster come fall.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

I think we are at the point where it can finally be said. Scot Loeffler is a worse football coach than Mike Jinks. Bowling Green has done the impossible.

Andrew Clair (whom I love and will be rooting for at Northwestern this year) tweeted something a little cryptic this afternoon that I feel is worth throwing out there, as I feel it's related to the topic.

He said, "Don’t forget, we were the issue though lol." https://twitter.com/_LuhDrew/status/1380232863115849728

It prompted responses in the affirmative (quote tweets, retweets, or likes) from lots of older guys within or freshly removed from the program, including Jerry Roberts, Montre Gregory, Roland Walder, Ra'veion Hargrove, Joe Ware, Julian Ortega-Jones, Austin Dorris, Ty Redding, and Quintin Morris.

It's pretty clear to me that there's tension between the staff and some portion of the players. What it's over, I don't know for sure. But we have to get that ironed out before we can move forward. I badly want to see BG football winning games again, but it continues to feel like the mountain we need to climb just keeps getting higher.

Loeffler tossed them all under the bus during that rant last year. Trust your eyes. Don't listen to what Loeffler says. Don't listen to what Moose says. Don't listen to what Kingston Jr. says. Watch the product. It's the worst Bowling Green Football has ever looked. A guy who was last defensive coordinator in 2012 of an 0-12 team is the answer? Why now after three failed guys who are now out of college football, His offense has been pathetic since he arrived. Atleast Jinks could score some points. He has spent 5 years on McDonald. A kid whose throwing motion alone equates to a low completion percentage. It's all smoke. It's all rants. It was all an administrator trying to elevate his career, and Urban Meyer getting another former assistant a job. It's all excuses. To the moon with a kite.

I would imagine there would have been some negative comments on social media when Urban cleaned house if social media had been so prevalent when he was here. Not comparing the 2 coaches but time will tell whether cleaning house is the answer or a disaster. My hope is at worst it's closer to an answer than a disaster.

You think Urban would have tossed an All MAC player? Nope. He had Andy Sahm running like he was Josh Harris for a season. Urban could do it because he could coach his ass off.

Whomever leads the team in tackles will be all MAC, so we will replace our all Mac LB loss, with an All Mac player.

Fair enough. We’ve shown we can replace unwanted defensive coordinators with more unwanted defensive coordinators. 4 times in 27 months. Keep dialing up the mid 90s Michigan phone tree, eventually BG will find gold up on the moon.

I know somebody that was “run off” by Urban. They hated that man through and through, and they still hate him now.

YES I do! Urban's way or the highway regardless of what you did in the past. All MAC for a losing program doesn't hold a lot of weight.

I'm glad you pointed this out because I saw Clair's tweet too and didn't want to mention it. I think it's pretty clear what Clair's tweet means. Walder also tweeted "Don't get me going." Clearly these guys and the ones you mentioned aren't in agreement with our coaches. And I'm confident this is part of the reason for a lot of the transfers. Our program is in a sad state right now. And that's saying something considering what it has been the last five years.

F man, I'm honestly beginning to fear this might be the case. It's hard to even stomach the thought, but I'd be lying if I said it hasn't crossed my mind. We're truly F'ed if that's the case.

Pretty dramatic. One of those guys you are so worried left the team, punched a teammate out on the bus after a game, for sitting in his seat. Stupid coach.

That sounds like the Bowling Green Football program we’ve grown to love. Fighting on busses. Top notch leadership all around. Losing by 40 every game. Coaches retiring during spring practice. A totally organized, well oiled machine. Coach going on crazy person rants about previous coaches. Loeffler just can’t catch a break. Seems like it’s been a theme the last decade. Excuses seem to find him.

No way he would do that!
