Women’s Soccer 2021

Post by mbenecke »

Our Falcons are looking for their third consecutive MAC championship sweep this spring, following their regular season and tournament titles in both the fall of 2018 and 2019.

In the preseason, they beat Toledo 5-0, Saginaw Valley State 8-2, and Butler 2-1, and they were picked to finish 1st in the MAC East.

To open the season, they beat Akron 3-0 on the road. Great effort.

And the title defense is on!

Should be a strong season. Glad they are able to get a season in this school year, especially with all the success from last year. Expecting them to do well to represent BG like volleyball and women’s basketball this year.

Falcons go on the road and win 3-0 in Athens today. BG is now 5-1 on the season, both overall and in the MAC.

The next 3 women’s soccer games have been postponed due to COVID issues within the program.

BG (5-1-0) hasn't played since March 28, but they will play Ball State (6-2-1) in the MAC title game on April 17 at 7:00pm inside Cochrane Stadium.

Our Falcons are looking for their third consecutive MAC Tournament Championship.

They also are (to my knowledge, which is limited when it comes to the non-revenue sports) the third women's program from BG this year to play for a MAC championship, joining the volleyball and basketball teams.

Women will play Ole Miss in the first round. Tough draw, as Ole Miss was 10-5 and beat some pretty solid SEC teams this year. Winner goes on to play #8 seed USC.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

The season is back in the fall this year, so it's technically the 2021 season again. Some big announcements of late as several of the seniors have decided to return for their fifth year. This should be a really strong team, yet again.

Yeah, if I'm not mistaken, they return all 11 starters. I'm sure a lot of other teams in the league have players returning for a 5th year, but I gotta think BGSU will be the MAC favorite yet again this year.

Did I see it correctly that we have won four straight regular season championships? That's impressive!
