Brenton Mills, a 6'3" guard at Binghamton, has committed to BG per Jon Rothstein. Was their leading scorer as a sophomore.

I wonder if we are expecting transfers of our own? Seems late if we are, but it also seems like we have a lot of guards now...

13.9 points per game on 40.8% from the field and 40.2% from three last year.

I don't know what we're going to do with all these guards, but I like the new blood.

Two 6'3" 185 lbs guards in two days. Pretty interesting. I wonder if he'll have to sit out a season? Maybe they're going for a high-paced, high-scoring offensive approach (which I would think could put Swingle's future here in jeopardy).

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Well, we're bringing in 3 guards to replace JT and Diggs. We were a little thin at guard anyway after Zeigler left.

Let’s keep it going. Can we get a big man tomorrow?

There is either attrition coming or they don't expect Curtis to be immediately eligible.

The lack of current year recruiting is alarming . . . We have a 6-8 project and a handful of transfers.

G- Metheny/ Fields
G- Curtis/ Gordon/ Mills (in order of transfer date only)
G- Fulcher/ Young
F- Plowden/ Turner/ Mattis (?)
C-Swingle/ Etim

Schollies available 1 or 2 depending on what happens with Mattis

Four seniors again next with a overwhelming willingness NOT to fill out the roster is concerning

A 6-8/6-9 guy who is somewhat mobile and can rebound would go a LONG WAY to filling out the roster

I guess the logic would be since all of the current freshmen will technically be freshmen again, they should replace veterans with veterans.

I like everything I see so far, but as we all know, even if Matiss can play, even if the freshman big (Etim) can play, they need a post player that can make a layup and block a shot. If not they're in the same position they were last year.

This is all great but won't mean a thing if we can't attract one or two guys with length that are athletic. Guards a a dime a dozen and it takes a great recruiter to get athletic bigs. You have to have them to win in today's game. You can't roll out a bunch of guards and a big center with expectations of winning. I know that is the style of play our coach loves but that style died years ago. A true center is completely unnecessary in modern basketball but you absolutely cannot win without one or two shot blocking and athletic power forwards. They are also the hardest guys to find.

I can't believe that people aren't more excited about this. This is exactly what this team hasn't done in any time I have ever followed them. They made a mess of a roster by bringing in 3 guys, 2 with 3 more years of eligibility who all averaged over 10 points a their last destinations. We probably just signed the 2nd and 3rd best players on our entire team within 24 hours. Our guard play is going to be solid for 3-4 years without recruiting another guy (as long as we don't get transfers). We currently have 4 guards who averaged over 10 pts a game and the other 2 of our group of 6, 1 is a senior who is a great glue guy all over the court and the other was a Freshman who showed tons of flashes.

I agree it's a mess but we will start 3 guards, that's apparent and our 2 deep at the 1-4 are as good as I have ever remembered when it came to depth. It seems most logical that Metheny goes to the bench but almost any mix of those 6 guys will make sense. There will undeniably be times that 4 of those 6 guys are on the court, none is a bad rebounder. AND we can press the entire game if we wanted to with that many guards.

1 Fields 6-2 Sr/Jr 6.9p 3.8r 2.2a 30(3%) 28.3m | Metheny 5-11 So/Fr 10.2p 3r 1.9a 32.2(3%) 28.7m
2 Mills 6-3 SO XFER 13.9p 3.1r 1.9a 40.2(3%) 32.2m | Fulcher 6-2 So/Fr 6p 3r 26.7(3%) 18.4m
3 Gordon 6-3 SR XFER 15.6p 3.2r 31.6(3%) 25m | Curtis 6-4 SO XFER 10.1p 2.4r 38(3%) 22.1m
4 Plowden 6-6 SR 13.4p 7.8rpg 35.6(3%) 30m| Young 6-6 So/Fr 2.3p 2.7r 12.5(3%) 10.1m | Kulackovskis 6-9 Sr(r)/Jr
5 Turner 6-7 Jr/So 2.1p 1.9r 27.3(3%) 8.2m | Swingle 6-11 Jr(t)/So 4p 2.4r 11.8m | Etim 6-8 Fr

It is crazy that 6 of our 7 best players are guards though.
1 Plowden 6-6 SR 13.4p 7.8rpg 35.6(3%) 30m
2 Gordon 6-3 SR XFER 15.6p 3.2r 31.6(3%) 25m

Ahem. Isn't that the exact type of team Baylor had this year to win the NCAA Tourney? Starting lineup 6'3", 6'4", 6'2" 6'5" and 6'10". The latter two were rebounders, not big scorers. Two benchplayers out scored them 6'3" and 6'8". So basically 4 guards and a big man.

Finding a big guy who can rebound and block shots should have been the priority since Wiggins was a junior. It's been wasted scholarship after wasted scholarship on the inside. I'll still take as many guards who can score as possible. In a year where Bowling Green was predicted to win the league, Elsasser played meaningful minutes in a close MAC tournament game. The more options the better. My gut is Diggs comes back also.

What wins MAC Championships? Good guard play. Yes you need to be able to rebound and defend the interior but in the MAC you have to able to protect the ball and score from the guard position. I’m very encouraged by all three of these additions. Samari Curtis might have to sit this season, I hope not but this gives us some added depth.
