Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
This roster is an athletic big man from being complete
PGs
Fields 6-2 Sr/Jr 6.9p 3.8r 2.2a 30(3%) 28.3m
Metheny 5-11 So/Fr 10.2p 3r 1.9a 32.2(3%) 28.7m
These two will probably man this spot primarily. Both have weaknesses but this is a a very good group.
Gs
Gordon 6-3 SR XFER 15.6p 3.2r 31.6(3%) 25m
Mills 6-3 SO XFER 13.9p 3.1r 1.9a 40.2(3%) 32.2m
Curtis 6-4 SO XFER 10.1p 2.4r 38(3%) 22.1m
Fulcher 6-2 So/Fr 6p 3r 1.9a 32.2(3%) 18.4m
This is as much depth at the other 2 starting guards than we have had in recent history. Any one of those 4 could start and we would be fine. All will make an impact and I would bet we play more small ball than you'd expect.
Fs
Plowden 6-6 SR 13.4p 7.8rpg 35.6(3%) 30m
Young 6-6 So/Fr 2.3p 2.7r 12.5(3%) 10.1m
Plowden will be the heart and leader of the team with Fields. Young is a very capable backup at the 4 for how we play things
C
Turner 6-7 Jr/So 2.1p 1.9r 27.3(3%) 8.2m
Swingle 6-11 Jr(t)/So 4p 2.4r 11.8m
Kulackovskis 6-9 Sr(r)/Jr
Etim 6-8 Fr
This is the chaotic position. 4 bodies. All question marks
Turner is undersized for the 5 but has shown flashes when he has played and needs minutes.
Swingle shows some offensive skill but athletically has his limitations
Kulackovskis is the biggest wildcard as he might be the perfect offensive fit here
Etim is very raw, looks like he averaged under 5 pts a game. His highlights show a rugged, explosive player who might pair exceptionally well on a team where he isn't asked to score.
Open schollie. Here are some interesting guys
1 Joe Petrakis-Kansas St 6-10 So https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... e-petrakis
2 Filip Rebraca-ND St 6-9 Sr https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... ip-rebraca
3 EJ Onu-Shawnee St Sr 6-11 http://www.ssubears.com/roster/35/12/5216.php (He declared for the NBA Draft but did not get an agent)

7. Corey Hightower-W Carolina 6-7 JR https://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... -hightower
There is also an interesting guy who is labeled a wing but is 6-8 at St Ignatius who seems super athletic but with no offers. Alex Garcia

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
Curious what others thing about Etim
https://www.hudl.com/profile/11831417/Ubong-Etim
I had been leaning toward he was a bit of a raw project based on his stat numbers at the ends of those highlights. Never anything impressive. He didn't seem to really dominate at all.
But then I got to watching it more and all the tapes show athleticism, he can run the floor, dunk and block and presumably rebound but they don't show that. That's exactly what we need at the 5. We don't necessarily need a scorer. We need an athletic banger who can rim protect. He might be able to be that as a freshman.
He is definitely much more raw than the 3 freshman we signed last year but I don't get a bad feeling about him long term. He is an athletic big at the very least.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
Etim has a 7’ wingspan and is young for his class. He is raw because of only playing basketball for about 3 or 4 years. He didn’t start for his HS team. Keep in mind his HS team won the Arkansas State Championship and Ubong Etim played behind a 7’ Center.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
I agree that if they get another big that can play they are probably better than last year. This combo of transfer guards is at least as good as Turner in terms of production, maybe better. Combine that with the freshmen all having a year of experience and offseason growth and they should be very talented and skilled.
BUT if they continue to run this offense (no offense) and we completely live and die on transition buckets and 3's we will probably be in the same position at the end of next season.

That guy would be a big difference-maker. He's what Washington could have been if he knew how to play. Rebound, defend, make open dunks and layups.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 12:09 am In on another guy

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
That's what is interesting about building this roster for next season. Losing Turner is losing one of best guards in BG history. But at the same time he was not good as a senior, IMO. He got 1st team All MAC as a legacy award, but he was so inefficient, and his shooting outside was horrendous. We may not be able to replace the "senior guard, all time leading scorer!" mentality, but his production from this past season should be replaceable. Even if, like you said, it comes from a combo of these new transfers vs a single guy.JohnFloyd4Life wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 8:29 am I agree that if they get another big that can play they are probably better than last year. But I think we still need 2 large athletes, not 1. Unless we luck into that 1 guy being a 25+ mpg guy which seems unlikely at this point. I want a young athlete that can replace Plowden in '22-23 (and spell him this year), along with another athlete that can take all of Swingle's minutes.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
lol, It is very true we do not know what is in the works. I agree that what we have right now looks better than what we had this year but it will not matter if we can't find one or two good big guys.footballguy51 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 9:17 amThank you. Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
It will be nice not having JT's 25-minute spells of consecutive missed layups and bonked 3s. A more distributed offense will make a nice difference next year.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
If Etim really has only played 3-4 years of ball and is ahtletic and rtaw..... isn't that EXACTL Ythe report on Plowden when he came to us?
And PLowden had nobody to really mentor him into his play style. Etim, if he wants ot learn from PLowden and PLowden wants to teach - might just take off.
