It's also about where you played and competition. In last year's Kenpom ratings. Samford was ranked 321 of 353 teams, Binghamton was 333, and Evansville was 294. For comparison BG was 167 just one slot down from an Ohio team that pulled a first round NCAA upset. The MVC is a tougher league than the ones Samford and Binghamton play in as likely is the MAC. Curtis shot 42% from 3 which is better than anyone else on the roster, granted Mills shot 40% but Curtis also had the best Assist/TO ratio of 1.56 of the three and what would be only second to Fields in returning players. Curtis out assisted Fields in total by 20. Curtis also out rebounded the other transfers as well. To me he's a much better rounded player than anyone save Plowden and perhaps Diggs on next year's team.Diemilkweed wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 8:57 pmIt's not just about raw averages. Like, if Curtis played for US last season, he likely would have been the 4th option behind Juice, Plowden and Diggs. That doesn't make him a bad player, or worse than the other two incoming guards.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 8:50 pmCurtis only averaged 10 pts a game. Gordon is a scorer but likely middle of the road from 3 point land and does not rebound or facilitate well. Might get a start if Diggs is the 6th man again but would be there for 2 point scoring more than anything else. He must be a slasher based on his stats more than a pure shooter.

I'm not going to bash a player who isn't even here yet to try to win a conversation. I hope he is great. If you watch the tape I am the 3rd most excited about him of the group.

Curtis averaged 38% from 3 not 42%
Curtis had 11 assists and 27 turnovers. That's not a 1.56 ratio. That's terrible
Mills had 30-35
Morgan had 17-17
Fields 55-28
Metheny 50-37
Morgan had 3.2 rebounds per game, Mills and Curtis had 2.4 each

I apologize Globe. I went back and doublechecked the numbers at Evansville and I cannot find where I got those numbers. I wrote them down from somewhere on somebody but nobody on the Evansville roster has the exact numbers I showed. Now Huger only has to find that unknown player who has those numbers and recruit him.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 11:34 pmI think that you might be going off incorrect stats.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:58 amIt's also about where you played and competition. No worries, they don't make the stats easy to read. In looking back I was surprised he never started a game. Seems crazy.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 9:38 amI apologize Globe. I still love the fact that we got 3 transfers who averaged over 10 pts a game at their schools. That's an incredible get. Now we just need one who is a bit taller.
Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
A couple of new transfers in the portal I could see being an addition (if Huger chooses to add one more body).
Chris Vogt - 7'1" C from Cincinnati by way of Northern Kentucky. Grad transfer who averaged 5pts 3.5 rbs and 1.1 blks after averaging 11 pts and 5.9 the year before. Probably more likely to go to a bigger school, but you never know.
Olisa Ngonadi - 6'8" PF from Robert Morris. Didn't really play much but has some athleticism and is a cousin to former BG glue guy Jeff Uju.

Looks like a super high upside guy who may never amount to anything or the light comes on with more basketball.
“I knew I wasn’t a scorer. I’m the one who does all the dirty work; the one who rebounds, blocks shots, takes elbows for offensive boards and sprints the floor.”

I kinda love that quote. Knows his limitations and what he can provide. Does the things to make a team better that don't show up on stat sheets. It's hard to come by players who think that way.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 2:01 pm https://pittsburghsportsnow.com/2019/05 ... is-family/

This is a good description of Germain Fitch, who was one of the best players I've seen at BG and one of my favorite all-time Falcons.

Well, he did manage to get up high enough that the rim was in the middle of his forearms - with his arms slightly bent, and without much effort.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 1:56 pmOlisa---He is in a dunk contest here. He'd at LEAST be a significant roll threat in the PnR.

Here are the bgsufalcons.com writeups for Myron Gordan and Samari Curtis....for you relatively normal people who do not obsessively check the site every day like I do.

Re: 2021-2022 Recruiting
So this guy is by far the most interesting. He likely is beyond us but there is a very good argument for him to come here. Richaun Holmes made it through us, we have a gaping hole at C, an otherwise veteran team with 5 Seniors, 2-3 great shooters to give him space to be nasty. You see these types of guys to go OSU type places and never amount to anything because they are fighting for playing time. He is from Ohio playing at Shawnee State and High School at Richmond State.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 8:10 pm
3 EJ Onu-Shawnee St Sr 6-11 http://www.ssubears.com/roster/35/12/5216.php (He declared for the NBA Draft but did not get an agent)

Will probably have to wait until the NBA draft is over and it's not likely he signs with us anyway but he would be absolutely ideal.
