That's my bad on thinking he turned UTEP around. I didn't look at the records there in the years prior to him getting that job, just his record there.

These are the best posts on the internet. Usually its just people trying to "own" eachother. Few and far between are the times people just have normal conversations and I have seen them twice in this same basketball forum. We have a good group here.

Agreed. With few exceptions, we keep it pretty civil. Even when we disagree or biff something.

Go Falcons!

Also - is anybody else checking this 2-3 times each and every day hoping to find we FINALLY signed a mobile big man? It's like Christmas, with total uncertainty.

I am not 100% sure that we can even sign someone but I am doing this everyday.

There is some confusing rule that we can't go over our limit if we get transfers. I don't understand it at all

It's not confusing. All NCAA athletes were granted a redshirt this season. That gives them a 5th year of eligibility. Any athlete who chooses to use their 5th year of eligibility at the school they played this season, can be granted an athletic scholarship that is exempt from the total number allowed. Giving an athletic scholarship to a transfer counts against the allowable number. The players staying here for their 5th season do not count against the scholarship limit.

I believe I heard that if you give that sr their extra year it's ok but accepting transfers makes it count against the 13.

The transfer counts against. The only exemptions are the players who were on the roster this season, who choose to stay for a 5th year. Taking on transfers does not prevent a school from using exemptions for their current players.

Say you have 2 seniors that have played for 4 years. You pick up a transfer who wants to use his 5th year, but not at his current school. That transfer would count against your 13, but the 2 returning seniors would not. You'd have 15 total.

What I had heard is that it wasn't as clean as that and that your seniors count if you accept transfers. Again I said it was confusing but from what I heard what you are saying is inaccurate.

This doesn't discuss that so it might be simple.

Everything I have seen has been really simple, which seems strange for the NCAA.

Hmmmm. Diggs and Plowden do not count against I scholarship total. So, we have 11 commitments for next year:

1. Methany
2. Fulcher
3. Fields
4. CTurner
5. Young
6. Kula
7. Swingle
8. Emit
9. Gordon
10. Mills
11. Curtis

I never understood why JW didn't get more floor time over Swingle. He is an adequate MAC post player.
