I wonder if the newcomers could beat the returnees in a scrimmage.
I would bet would be on the newcomers. I’ll give the current roster + 4 points.
Juice took so much of the offense on himself, that I am not sure our guards could possibly have showed what they have. And to a lesser extent the other players on the team were also affected. I am convinced that Fields definitely has more to give than he has shown - and aside from being a bit out of control, I think Matheney did, too.

Returning
PG Fields
SG Matheney / Fulcher
SF Diggs
PF Plowden
C Turner / Kula / Swingle
New (note: 1 - 3 could basically interchange here)
PG Gordon
SG Mills
SF Curtis
PF Reece
C O'neal / Etim
Advantage
PG - New. Probably. But Gordon wasn't terribly efficient and may only have better numbers from not have someone like Juice on his team
SG - probably new - mostly due to experience and that sweet 40% 3-pt shooting
SF - returners. I'll take the larger, more experienced player who put up stats even with a dominant scorer on the team
PF - Plowden by a country mile
C - Man, I don't actually know. This depends so much on Turner accepting being a big and Kula being healthy.
The NEW team having only 6 players is a huge bonus for the returners. But let's assume we don't worry about fouling out - just give a tech FT and move on after 5 fouls on a player. And then ALSO assume 10 minute quarters with 10 minutes between so rest isn't an issue.
Thing is, even with that, I like the returners., In part because O'neal is one of the few post players that Swingle might actually be effective against. Also, the only New guy likely to be showing significant improvement is maybe Curtis - although he's older than is soph standing would make you think, so maybe not. Meanwhile, our three young true freshman last year should all be significantly improved.
OTOH, the simple fact these guys came from other programs might mean they got real coaching and know how to run a real offense, so they might smoke the returners.
