After playing at Wayne State in college, he became an assistant at Adrian College from 2009-2014. After that, he was an assistant at Princeton for 6 seasons, and he spent last year as an assistant at Darmouth (where he didn't coach a game, due to COVID-19 canceling their season) before coming our way.

I like that he's young. I like that he's local. I like that he has experience coaching at the D1 level and that he's been coaching in the college game for over a decade.

We'll see how this goes.
11 years with Ron Fogarty. I'm sure he'll do well.

Replacing one coach who had a name I struggled to pronounce with another. If Carr leaves I would expect alliteration to be one of the criteria for choosing his replacement.

Now we need to get back on track with those one syllable goaltender names...

I have zero insight into any of this, but did Maco leave on decent enough terms to help with/not hinder our recruiting efforts going forward?

I have no direct knowledge of the Maco situation. On the surface, he went home. It also appears as though he did not take a direct coaching position. Looks like it's more of a manager position. I 100% understand the going home aspect after last season, especially with "home" being in Canada.

Maco told all of his recruits to honor their commitments to BGSU. Whether or not that happens is another thing, but at least a few of the players he recruited are still slated to join the program for the 2021-22 season.

He is Executive Director at a developmental hockey school. He most definitely could affect recruiting at BG.

If he wants to burn bridges, so be it. I'm reporting first hand knowledge of the situation.

Personally, I didn't think Maco leaving was a personal thing from the BG side, and it was more about him going home to Canada, so I don't see why he would do any bridge burning.

I'm not exactly disagreeing with you. He didn't go someplace that he could take recruits with him (Bergeron bringing Wojtala here when he came). The professional thing to do is tell recruits to honor their commitments. Where he's at now, he will try to get as many kids as he can to the next level (school turning out talent). Whether he is still guiding players here won't be seen for a couple years. Coaches (juniors), "advisors," alumni, all have an impact on recruiting.

Formal recruiting is done by assistant coaches and head coach. There's a large network of informal recruiters helping them identify talent, potential, providing contact info, etc. Especially in today's world, the three coaches are not able to do all that by themselves.

Looks like BG will open next season on the road at RPI. October 8th and 9th.

RPI didn't play in 2020-2021, so that'll surely be an emotional night for them.

They open with an exhibition game the weekend before.

The new CCHA website is live.

Edit: While not perfect and I've encountered a glitch already, it's a helluva lot better than the old WCHA.com.
