Upcoming Total Eclipse - NW Ohio

Post by Falconian »

Monday, April 8, 2024, after we celebrate our Frozen Four appearance (you won't be able to see it in St. Paul, MN), the next total eclipse will pass directly over Bowling Green, Ohio. The edge of the path touches Toledo to the north, and Cincinnati to the south.

Today, I am flying to St. Louis from Philly to see the total eclipse. I will be meeting up with family members who live in southern Illinois where we will be on the line of totality. This will be my 2nd total eclipse I saw. The first was March 7, 1970. I was in Norfolk, VA to see that one.

I'm coming into town for the eclipse and will see you all at the Doyt. It's my first and a bucket list item.

I took an introductory astronomy course at BG just after the new physical sciences building (with the planetarium) opened.

I drove down from Michigan and set up at Woodland Mall...probably had more cars in that lot than they've seen in a long while. Managed to avoid the crazy traffic by taking the back rds through the cornfields...US 23 north was still a parking lot at the state line as late as 8pm from what I heard
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Missed the total eclipse here in Maryland, but it was about 90% here. Crazy how much light still gets through with only 10% of the sun showing, but the temperature drop was staggering. Will have to try to get to a total at some point in my life.
