July 2021sniglets

Post by roguewarrior »

I feel compelled to report that despite what everyone rails about (justifiably) on game days of late, the staff does do, IMHO, a great job behind the scenes. I cannot speak to the previous regime(s), but examples include: just finished yesterday a Special Olympics at indoor facility-giving a lot of people a great interactive day with the players/coaches. They did a similar Xmas thing. They have great speakers regularly (Jack Harbaugh last week). They have a “life coach” and small associated player leadership group within. They hold them accountable for grades, conduct, etc. (yet some, unbelievably still fail) They instituted a “Big Brother” program to mentor new freshman with a veteran leader. Position coaches have players to their homes for meals. Seem to be committing quality kids, especially lately. I HOPE they can translate the X’s and O’s To game day success. Either way, I believe my son will leave well suited for the real world, above and beyond a typical student, because of their efforts. They deserve credit for this.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

I've never met Jack Harbaugh, but I bet he tells some great stories. That's really cool.

The goal is to always prepare these young men for success after college. That's good stuff.

I think Phil Vilapiano was in recently too. All those type guest speakers add up over 4 years or so, and you hope a lot of the good rubs off.

Thanks for sharing. Obviously wins are the end goal, but creating a culture of preparation and success are very closely tied to those on-field results.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

Wins are more likely with the a good culture. This thread make me believe the program has its eyes in the right direction
I proudly chose to be a Falcon and a Falcon I will remain until the end.
