I like this move. Georgia Tech is a P5 ($) game, but they aren't an overbearing opponent. I expect it to be a bit closer this time around (heck, maybe we'll be good enough to beat them in 2023, who knows?). Don't love having to see the Triple Option again (or ever) but I'll live with this over other potential P5 opponents.
Paul Johnson is gone as Georgia Tech's head coach and the option went with him. Geoff Collins is the new head coach and his OC is Dave Patenaude, who came from Temple. So they'll be running something similar to what we do in more of a pro-style scheme (assuming the current staffs will still be intact by then).
GO BG!!!

Oh man, that’s right! I knew they had a new coach, but I forgot they ditched the Triple Option. Tradition on the brain. Haha

Even better, then.

IIRC Georgia Tech lost in 2019 to the Citadel. Take a guess what type of offense they run.

I’m certainly excited for the schedule to drop. I’m also slightly annoyed that they have it but insist on waiting instead of just telling us so we, the fans, can make plans.

6 days may not be a massive difference, but I’m dying over here, waiting to plan my fall Saturday schedule.

With ODU located as near as they are to Virginia Beach, that would be an awesome trip in early fall.

Ohio State is paying BG a cool $1.8 million for the 2027 game.

With all of the changes taking place, I'd be shocked if this game actually happens. I hope BG secures a down payment for these types of games.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

I still think the megapowers will be scheduling a couple "tune-up" games each season even as they look to break away from the NCAA. Plus, they're revenue drivers for Ohio State when it comes to ticket sales and parking fees.

Good. And wouldn't it be nice if we could make a real game of it the way we used to?

BG has added a non-conference home game vs Saint Francis in 2026. That's our FCS opponent for that season and I don't mind it since we have two P5 road games and a home G5 game already for that season. Our non-conference schedules are now filled all the way through 2026 with the exception of one more open spot in 2025, which should be filled by a home FCS opponent.

I noticed something a little odd with our future MAC schedules though, as our MAC home and away opponents have been determined all the way through 2027. We all know who our East foes will be and that we rotate home and away from year to year with them, but our MAC West crossover games are also on there and we have some tough crossovers for the next several years. We obviously always play Toledo and they're usually good, but for some reason, we're playing Western Michigan for the next three consecutive years as well. That seems odd to me. Back-to-back years I expected to see, but three years in a row seems odd. We will also play Ball State twice and Central Michigan once, but I'm not exactly sure why we'll play WMU three consecutive seasons? Anyway, here's the link to the future schedules:
