Former player updates
Just in case anyone else was curious like I was, I looked up a few of the starters that have transferred out to see how they fared in week 1.
- Ortega-Jones, Texas State - Looks to be the #3 WR there. Significant playing time and targets. 3 catches, 23 yards.
- Kholbe Abrams-Coleman, SIU - Starter for the FCS squad. Had a few tackles and lots of snaps
- Caleb Biggers, Boise St. - Did not start or collect any stats.
- Jerry Roberts, Arizona - Did not start or collect any stats.
- Demontae Haigler, Louisiana-Monroe - Did not start or collect any stats.
- Noah Massey, Angelo State - Starting WR for the D-II program. 3 catches, 31 yards.
- Andrew Clair, Northwestern - Moved up to #2 RB due to some injuries. Ran four times for 14 yards and had a reception for -4 yards. (Northwestern's offensive line looked pretty horrific, in his defense)
- Joe Ware, Austin Peay - couldn't find if he started, but had significant playing time at OT
- Roland Walder, EKU - started for the FCS squad and had 3 solo tackles
- Cameron Stage, WKU - was not listed in depth chart and did not appear in their opener
- Isaiah Johnson-Mack, Saginaw Valley St. - Started for D-II SVSU and had 3 catches for 27 yards. Second leading receiver for them.
- Joe Maxwell, North Alabama - Did not appear in the opener for the FCS squad.
I might be leaving a few out, but those were the ones I thought to search for. I did see a few others who haven't found a spot to land yet, namely Cedric Mitchell and Joey Carroll.

Biggers has played for Boise. He got beat pretty soundly on a pass to the corner of the end zone against UCF. Earned a chuckle from me.BillyLP wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 3:10 pm Just in case anyone else was curious like I was, I looked up a few of the starters that have transferred out to see how they fared in week 1.

I saw that he had appeared, but didn't see how many snaps or where he had played. I guess "number of times burned" doesn't show up in the stat sheets.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 3:30 pmBiggers has played for Boise. Re: Former player updates
I actually saw that play live and thought it was pretty good coverage and thought the receiver made a really good play on the ball. Even though I wanted Boise State to win the game, I'd be lying if I said that I felt bad about that TD though.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 3:30 pmBiggers has played for Boise. Re: Former player updates
Are Veasley and Cunningham still playing??
Re: Former player updates
Veasley is still at Duquesne but I think he's pretty far down the depth chart there. Maybe third string? I know Cunningham isn't at Saginaw Valley anymore, but I'm not sure if he's playing somewhere else.

Goes to show what a crapshoot recruiting is, and more importantly how core player development is to a football program.

Re: Former player updates
How they doing?
Re: Former player updates
Updates on a few for you, Globe:
Ortega-Jones, TX St. - significant playing time every game but only 6 catches for 64 yards this season
Biggers, Boise St. - has moved into a much larger role in the last few weeks. had 9 tackles in their upset against BYU. has 12 tackles and 2 PBUs this year.
Jerry Roberts, Arizona - has appeared in three games on special teams and has collected one tackle. somehow moved to a worse team than BG (I have watched them and can say it confidently) and lost playing time.
Andrew Clair, Northwestern - solidly entrenched as their #3 RB. Has 26 carries for 171 yards and no TDs. Hasn't done much impressive other than a good run against Ohio U. Has managed to throw a couple of shots at BG threw his twitter retweets, though.
Isaiah Johnson-Mack, SVSU - having a nice season for the D-2 team. over 300 yards a few touchdowns as their primary tight end. watched a few highlights and have been really impressed with his skills.
Haigler, Louisiana-Monroe - appeared in one game, no stats
Roland Walder, EKU - starting as a DL and has a 16 sacks, 4.5 TFLs and 2 sacks.
Former OLs Cam Stage (WKU) and Joe Maxwell (North Alabama) haven't appeared in any games this year. That's all I'm willing to look up right now.

Considering Clair was a member of the leadership council while at BG, that's disappointing to read.BillyLP wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 3:28 pm Updates on a few for you, Globe:

I think Clair gave his all during his time here and was a good leader for most of it, but when he saw his friends on the team getting kicked to the curb (not implying it wasn't justified), he started losing his commitment. I've been there. Been on a staff at a fun job where everyone around me was laid off. Suddenly, I didn't feel the desire to work there anymore. That said, I didn't publicly complain that I was in a bad system after I left.

Re: Former player updates
I guess I shouldn’t imply to judge him as a quality leader or not, as i have never heard otherwise. My bad. But plenty play the role here, players and coaches.
I did find it vexing when they held Clair out of the games when he wasn’t hurt, so they could red shirt him. He actually put himself into a game, and they took his helmet away on the field after that.
