Hockey and men's basketball actually have home games on the same day fairly often, pretty much every year.

This year:
Fri 11/19 - Lake Superior and Norfolk State
Sat 1/15 - Bemidji and Toledo
Sat 2/5 - Minnesota State and Northern Illinois
Sat 2/19 - Northern Michigan and Ball State

Hockey and men's basketball actually have home games on the same day fairly often, pretty much every year.

This year:
Fri 11/19 - Lake Superior and Norfolk State
Sat 1/15 - Bemidji and Toledo
Sat 2/5 - Minnesota State and Northern Illinois
Sat 2/19 - Northern Michigan and Ball State

I can confirm from personal experience that it has been like that since at least the 70's.

And for a decent stretch of time there, both would sell out on the same night.

Triple headers in my day starting with WBB followed by MBB with a short break before heading to the Ice Arena for the night cap. Sellouts were disappearing in the late 80's as the Ice Arena expanded but the both arenas were rocking all the same.
