Luther Van Damme is no more...

On a side note, I bet a ton of people are going to want that job.

I think Beckman would make an outstanding candidate.

Let's screw with the (cr)Akron fans by floating JD Brookhart's name on every MAC board out there.

I suspect OSU defensive coordinator Mark Snyder would be a candidiate, although they may prefer to get someone with a more "Southern" orientation so there won't be any language barriers between the coach and the locals.

ESPN says he retired. No way, he must be out amidst some controversery, per usual for Marshall. Wouldn't be surprised if news of some violations or legal trouble broke in the next few days.....

My first three thoughts:

1. On the way down is a good time to leave.

2. Soon, some will jam attendance issues and insults at marshall.

3. Are there a few freshman there we could use?

Rumors have persisted for a while he has health issues -- diabetes, I think.

I'm placing my chips there.

Agreed.

If the NCAA is snooping around, I'd think Marshall would be best served by keeping him around until it becomes public, so he could be made the sacrificial lamb at a more opportune time.

The guy just signed a big contract extension ($250,000/year from the school, I believe, and another $250,000 from "private" sources), so he obviously had designs on sticking around for a while.
