It was actually a 20 point fourth-quarter lead, but who’s counting….

That game was a nightmare. James Starks went berserk.

Does anyone know what Loeffler did to get the unsportsmanlike penalties?

One of the strangest games overall that I can recall in a long time. Thankfully we came out on the winning end of it.

He argued. I imagine it was either too much or he said something that the ref considered over the line. There was nothing physical or anything like that. Nothing overly aggressive, just sternly attempting to state his case. No idea what it was about or why (beyond to correctly tell the refs that they were terrible) but it ended in an ejection due to 2 unsportsmanlike penalties.

My guess is he called the refs bad at their job and they penalized him.

I can tell you for sure the first one was for the clear hold their OL that was not called on 3rd and 2 from our 17 in the 3rd quarter. It was a clear hold that was either missed or not called on one of our DL on a QB run for the first down. I watched the play over myself. Not sure about the second one, unless he kept on them about it.

The team ran 46 offensive plays not counting punts. 46 plays. 8 TDs.

Wow.

He would not have been wrong there. I think the coaching staff did really well today considering the officiating. Several coaches tweeted things essentially saying they had to beat two teams today (Buffalo and the officials).

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

I am amazed that the Falcons scored more points in the fourth quarter than they have scored in a complete game this year.

ESPN said they scored more points in the 18 minutes after Loeffler’s ejection than they had in any full game the past 2 seasons.
Maybe if he really wants to turn it around he gives up play calling

First off, BiG win - congrats to players and coaches who have turned this program from the very bottom of BG history and the NCAA to a respectable program moving in the right direction! I have felt that Loeffler and McDonald have taken too much crap on this board and I'm very pleased with where we are going.
That said, I do think the head coach should not be involved in play calling. There job is management and leadership and when necessary, making the big calls. I hope this does change. Either way, with one more victory I'm calling this season a BiG success!!

Respectable program moving in the right direction? Now that’s funny. The beauty of MAC divisional football is the botched hires at other schools matter as much or more than the coach you have. Let’s hope Buffalo and Ohio didn’t Jinks us into thinking we have a good coach.

To be fair, I think when they’re talking about “beating 2 teams”, I think they’re talking about beating themselves. That can still be a commentary on the officials, but I don’t know if they would be going on social media after a game and tweeting stuff like that. However, maybe that’s the reason it’s intentionally left vague.
