Sad as it may be there are few people who get out of line and spew crap out of their mouth like its a bad case of the runs. I have been in the chat room on nights were my beloved mavs are away, and witnessed several of these "red army" people bad mouth fans of the same team. To me thats just foolish it should be an area where people support the team together. oddly enough, I watch and these people with a third grade mentality pick on people for no reason. One time it was because they did not like a screen name. So as a UNO fan that likes the same team but maybe sees things differently Id like to let you know thiat this group is not the majority.
First I'd like to say welcome!

Second I'd like to say thank you for affirming my overall assessment of the majority of your fans. AJ and others are a testament to the fact that a few bad apples can, unfortunately, skew a person's view of another program. First impressions are important on or off the web, and due to AJ,s incessant and constant trash...he's the first impression that most people get of UNO. Hopefully this thread will help to heal a few of the bad feelings and convince a few of us to just ignore certain "fans" of your program.

Again, welcome to our board and feel free to come back any time.

Y yo tambien.

I'm not sure how to say "breath of fresh air" in Spanish, but if I did, I assure you I would have written that too! :D

See, in all of this it has become appearant that people have a misguided image of what and who UNO fans really are.

Sure, there are a few @sshats out there that like to run smack about ANYONE's team when they are playing UNO's, but you'll find that most of the fans are really just there for the game. Sure, AJ et. al. can get a little steamed about something now and then, but he doesn't reflect the entire group. The people that care about the game were the ones that sent the jersey, and AJ was one of them.

He might come off harsh at times, but you'll find AJMav to be a very nice person, one that I am glad to call friend. He might run his smack on USCHO and Mavpuck, but that's not the person he is in person. Sure, he might give you a hard time about being from LSSU or BGSU, etc. but he is actually a very knowledgible and intelligent hockey enthusiast (sp).

Another faction of fans that it appears you are misunderstanding is the Red Army. While on the outside, some might perceive us as a bunch of hooligans. What most people don't know is that we are a group of professionals, not students. Sure, we have a few members of the student body join us from time to time, but we are made at our core of lawyers, accountants, and other specialities like engineers and firefighters.

I'll admit, I was one of the two people when BG came to town after Sharpiegate that was sporting an orange shirt and walking around encouraging people to "haze" me. But, it was done in fun and to have a good time. Does that make me an annoying fan? Maybe...but at least I am not the type that goes to another's message board to run smack. I would like to point out that you have fans of your own that are just as guilty for doing what the likes of AJ do here and on USCHO.

I didn't come here to start a fight, but I did want to clear some things up and present the other side of the story. You all can sit around and think you are infallible and holier-than-thou, but you have those among you who are no better for doing what you are condemning AJ for.

As far as why we "hate" you, I can't provide total specifics for the cause because I wasn't around when it all happened. I can tell you that it has to do with the following list provided by AJ...

1- Hewson taunting our crowd
2 - The rest of their team taunting our crowd in 98
3 - Their fans on USCHO
4 - Tyler Masters badmouthing Omaha and UNO pretty much all the time.
5 - Buddy Powers (insert various reasons here)
6 - Tuesday night
7 - The buildup for Tuesday night, including Buddy and Tyler's constant whining as to why they had to come to Omaha in the first place.
8 - Some punk @ss defender of theirs taking Jaws' stick and tossing it up in the stands at their place in 01
9 - Their fans have a bitterness and "woe is us" attitude toward themselves. Very typical east coast.

While I don't know a lot about all of this, mostly because I avoid boards like USCHO, I do agree that there is something between these teams and their respective fans. Is it a rivalry or just pure hatred for unknown reasons. Hell, I don't think UNO fans really understand why you "hate" us completely.

All in all, I think it's a reasonable conclusion that we all have to agree to disagree and move on. The more we dwell on it, the more we will only make things worse between the fans.

Come on Coach, did you even read all of the posts in this thread? Most, if not all, of us here would be more than happy to forget about everything. Buddy, Hewson, Masters and the rest of that group are long gone, yet there are people on your side of the internet that won't let it go, and prefer to hold on to the hatred (and AJ does his damndest to make sure it continues).

I would say that 99.9% of our fans don't know and don't care that any animosity exists between these two teams. If you guys let it go, it'll die.

Like I said earlier, the internet serves as the first impression a lot of people get of YOU, ME, etc., etc. Given that members of the Red Army are the most 'vocal' (in particular, AJ), what impression would you get? First impressions are the most important and longest lasting and, therefore, most people's impression of UNO isn't great.

I will be the first to admit that I've been on MavPuck at times and stirred things up. However, if you go back and look at my posts I've rarely, if ever, attacked your team, or anything concerning your team. Most of my "matches" have been with AJ. Call it comic relief, if you will....he's easy to set off. I will, however, be the first to call a truce when and if he decides to let it go.

If you want to talk hockey, come here whenever you like, Coach. We'll be here. The same goes for AJ but only if he leaves his caustic side under his keyboard since I doubt that our moderater will have the same patience with him as yours does.

I think you'd be surprised at how much is actually nipped at the moderator level sometimes. That's why he has his own blogspot now, so he can be unedited.
