I wouldn't want anything to do with LibertyBGSU33 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 10:40 am If expansion for the MAC is in evitable, I’d rather see WKU and Liberty as opposed to MTSU. The physical transformation of Liberty’s campus and ongoing athletic facilities is damn near remarkable. They are also in outstanding shape financially which is almost unheard of for any other group of five institution.

It looks like Liberty is moving to C-USA now anyway.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 12:39 pmI wouldn't want anything to do with LibertyBGSU33 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 10:40 am If expansion for the MAC is in evitable, I’d rather see WKU and Liberty as opposed to MTSU. GO BG!!!
Re: The final Great Realignment of College Football?
What would be a fair way of absorbing them for all the core MAC members and divisions is, splitting them up and giving them a protected crossover game. Then both divisions would have to make travel allowances instead of just one. I think that would be fair.jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 12:35 pmBuffalo would scream bloody murder if both of them are placed in the East.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 02, 2021 12:30 pm WKU and MTSU are both father West than every school in the MAC except for NIU. But I 100% could see the MAC putting them both in the East and moving BG back to the West. And I would HATE this beyond what I can even describe. That is my main hangup and issue with all of this expansion talk (which I'm fully expecting to happen). I'm more against a displacement of BG again than I am against any sort of conference expansion. I'd be okay with an expansion and then either splitting them between divisions and letting them have a protected crossover game, or sending them both to the West where they geographically fall and fit. However, with MAC officials making the calls and pulling the strings, I could easily see them doing something head scratching and moving BG yet again and sticking them both in the East. Just watch....

1)
West - NIU, EMU, CMU, WMU, Ball State, Miami, WKU
East - BG, Toledo, Kent, Akron, Ohio, Buffalo, MTSU
2)
West - NIU, EMU, CMU, WMU, Ball State, WKU, MTSU
East - BG, Toledo, Miami, Ohio, Kent, Akron, Buffalo
3)
West - NIU, CMU, WMU, Ball State, Miami, WKU, MTSU
East - BG, Toledo, EMU, Kent, Akron, Ohio, Buffalo
1 has balanced travel and moves the westernmost school in the East in Miami over to the West, and Toledo slides East. 2 dumps the newcomers both in the West and Toledo moves East. 3 splits up the directional Michigan schools, Toledo comes East and Miami/EMU swap based on geography. 1 and 2 appear to be the likeliest options.

Reading on Twitter, WAC looking to add schools and move up to FBS. Crazy!

CUSA has invited Liberty, New Mexico St., Jacksonville St., and Sam Houston St. to join the conference. Still no word on WKU or MTSU's fate.

CUSA officially adds Liberty, New Mexico St, Jacksonville St and Sam Houston.
Re: The final Great Realignment of College Football?
I'm really surprised Liberty went for CUSA. I mean, f*** Liberty, but they have a ton of money and pretty decent recent success. I actually thought they'd be at the level of American or Sun Belt more than CUSA, which is essentially a conference of scraps at this point.

Sam Houston's colors are bright orange and white and they're based in Texas...how soon before the Big 12 comes after them to replace the Longhorns?

There's a lot more to picking a conference than the level its currect and future members are playing at. Ask Miami hockey how that's going for them.BillyLP wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 4:05 pmI'm really surprised Liberty went for CUSA. Re: The final Great Realignment of College Football?
Brett McMurphy reported this afternoon that MTSU is still debating on the move to the MAC, seems financially driven. If they're not on board then neither school will receive an invite.
