vs. St. Thomas (11/5-11/6)

Post by mbenecke »

Following the split with Bemidji, our Falcons (3-1-2) will return home to continue conference play against St. Thomas (1-9-0, 1-5-0 CCHA). Game 1 will be Friday, November 5 at 7:07pm EST, with Game 2 coming on Saturday, November 6 at 7:07pm. Both games will be available to stream at https://www.flohockey.tv/.

UST’s resume is interesting. They have had their fair share of blowout losses, but they own a win over Ferris State, and a couple of other close losses, so we still need to take this team seriously. That said, they are giving up nearly 5 goals a game and commit roughly 6 penalties per game, so there could be some fireworks this weekend.

The Tommies are coached by our old friend Rico Blasi, so it should be nice to give him a little bit of hell as he returns to the Slater Family Ice Arena. This will be our very first time playing St. Thomas, so it should be a fun battle, and a great way to welcome to the conference.

Go Falcons! Beat St. Thomas.

A lot of time has passed since Rico was last in the building, is the newest generation of Bleacher Creatures even aware of the history? I'd love to join in a rousing chant of "Riiiiicooooo, Riiiiicooooo" led by the student section.

Unfortunately given the recent history of this program playing down to lesser competition, this series has me worried a bit. Hope some of the newer guys will help change that attitude.

I'm guessing these will be long, drawn out, whistle filled games.

Would be absolutely amazing to see a sign in the student section saying "Hey Rico, take a bow."

Tough to get a grove going when you spend half the period on the PK. Breakout still needs work.

2-1 good guys after 2. We look a tad ragged.

Turnover in our end. 2-2. We do not look good at all.

Sluggish game but two late ones by Collin and Burke sealed it.

Ferris defeated Minnesota State 2-1 and LSSU took down Tech in overtime, 3-2.

Waived off icing after the puck crossed the goal line. For as much as Langseth bragged up the officiating during CCHA Media Day, he sure seems to have found some brain-dead jersey fillers.

Tried way too hard to bring a physical game tonight. That's not what this team is. They are much better when they just skate, and let the physical stuff happen without forcing it.

It may not have been smooth, but I’ll take a 4-2 win every time out. Glad to be back in the building once again tonight. Not sure many folks thought we would be 4-1-2 at this point, so I’m just taking it one game at a time with this group.

The Tommies are not a team to sleep on. They beat Ferris. Ferris beat Mankato last night.
