2021-2022 Season
Re: 2021-2022 Season
Not surprising….not sure there was really that much demand for a official play by play person for hockey. There are alternatives for fans to follow the game when the team is on the road. I don’t disagree the optics aren’t great, but if they didn’t have a quality replacement it’s probably the way to go.
That money isn’t going to Flo, it’s going to the football budget, but that is par for the course for the past 12 years.

Again, the money that supported Ryan Vallon's position were reallocated to to the revamped CCHA TV on Flo Hockey, not football. Not everything is a conspiracy Tommy.TommyG wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 8:29 am Not surprising….not sure there was really that much demand for a official play by play person for hockey. Re: 2021-2022 Season
After a 1-0-1 weekend at RPI, 2 of our Falcons received CCHA Player of the Week Honors:
Gabe Chicoine was named the Defenseman of the Week after tallying 3 assists for the series, while Austen Swankler was named the Rookie of the Week for his 2 weekend assists.

Sure would have liked seeing the CCHA on ESPN+ instead of Flo.

Absolutely. Beyond the fact that it's like $6 a month compared to $30 (an outrageous difference), it would mean we don't need an additional streaming service to watch hockey when everything else is on ESPN+. Someone really dropped the ball when we got involved with Flo, in my opinion.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 10:26 am ECAC Hockey Announces Eight Year Extension of Streaming Rights Agreement with ESPN+

Being ESPN, we all know how sweetheart of a deal the MAC has. Being online only probably changes things a little bit. Selfishly, I'd like it on ESPN+, as that's included with my phone plan. But, being one of only two full D1 schools (counting the Tommies) in the league, Flo probably makes more sense for the other schools.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 10:26 am ECAC Hockey Announces Eight Year Extension of Streaming Rights Agreement with ESPN+

Re: 2021-2022 Season
Pure speculation, but one conclusion that fits the fact pattern is the league/league members get a bigger "cut" from Flo than from Mickey though I'd love to know what the numerator is in each of these scenarios.

Not every school deals with ESPN either. The deal with Flo probably makes it easier for them to stream their other sports as well. They would already have the software and a camera to make it happen.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 11:56 am Pure speculation, but one conclusion that fits the fact pattern is the league/league members get a bigger "cut" from Flo than from Mickey though I'd love to know what the numerator is in each of these scenarios.

I was disappointed at the number of fans not wearing face coverings during the Miami game and am hoping for better for St. Thomas.

Falcons moved up a bit in the USCHO poll.

Re: 2021-2022 Season
An email was sent to ALL season ticket holders addressing this topic. I'm assuming they wanted to see how the 1st game went. I considered it a shot of the bow, so this is your warning. Enforcement of this will be interesting. That's why Kroger, Walmart, Home Depot and many others required it but stop enforcing it because the flack $10 an hour employees were getting.

At the Sanford Center in Bemidji about half the people, including staff, were masked. Masks were "mandated".
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Dalton Norris, Coale's brother and BG recruit, was named USHL Defenseman of the Week.

So, the university is actively trying to shut down BGSUHockey.com, along with the associated Twitter account. Just the latest in a series of bonehead moves from this athletic administration. First RSO, now this.
