Re: Incoming
So lemme get this straight...you recruit a player...you don't give him the time or the motivation or both to improve before throwing him out there. Then it's his fault that the results aren't there and you threaten to dump him?
That doesn't seem like quality coaching

Re: Incoming
The OL tonight has been another DISASTER. This is week 11. It's essentially as bad now as it was in week 1. Yes they are young, but the OL is still getting murdered on essentially every other play. They make it damn near impossible to let routes develop or open running lanes. The OL majorly needs addressed in the offseason no matter what. Name one of our starting OL that is irreplaceable? The clear and obvious answer is no one. Now , to be clear, I'm not saying that this year is the ceiling for any of these guys. I am confident they all can, and will, improve down the road. But I'm sorry, we need to bring in guys to solidify the OL and blend with all this inexperienced and youth. We 100% absolutely do. No matter which one of these guys wants to complain, our what parent wants to cry about it. Any fool can clearly see that for themselves.

Re: Incoming
But these young OL have to be Loeffler recruits by now??
Re: Incoming
What??? You honestly just said that what is said at a press conference is "usually" the opposite of what was said at practice, meetings and locker room??? You just lost all credibility with that statement alone.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 9:40 pmWell, it is. Loeffler has said he is going to look to the portal and that he will look for offensive linemen. He's been saying that nearly all season.
The players who aren't getting it done know who they are, I highly doubt that Loeffler is personally threatening players the way you are implying.

No one is against bringing in talent. It happens every year. It’s the way it’s done. It’s one of his many, many flaws. I can’t explain team building to you here.
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: Incoming
Who is arguing that they shouldn’t be looking to bring in OL from the transfer portal? For sure they should…ought to be looking to do that at almost every position. QB is one spot that needs to be addressed asap.BGSU33 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 10:26 pm The OL tonight has been another DISASTER. This is week 11. It's essentially as bad now as it was in week 1. Re: Incoming
First off, none of these OL should even be on the field for BG right now. That is not their fault. That falls directly on the coaching staff because we saw all the defections this unit had in the offseason and did nothing about it. Adding someone, anyone, even just one guy would have been an effort. We did nothing. That is not the fault off the players whatsoever. That said, they are what we have and it is nowhere near enough. They'll still be very young next year too. If, and I don't expect it, but if these guys all stick around, you're probably talking two more years before they're where they need to be. That doesn't mean any of them should run from competition if new guys are brought in. But in this day and age of college football, some of them will. But it all doesn't defuse the need for major help at OL.Flipper wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 10:12 pm So lemme get this straight...you recruit a player...you don't give him the time or the motivation or both to improve before throwing him out there. Well that's another false statement by you again, because If the talent you are referring to comes in the form of a transfer, you clearly have expressed your prejudice and dislike for it.

Do I really need to name the name of who that person is on here? It's pretty clear as day who that is.TommyG wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 10:35 pmWho is arguing that they shouldn’t be looking to bring in OL from the transfer portal? Re: Incoming
Yeah, pretty much. They are so damn young though. This talk of the weight room applies to this squad even more than the rest of the team. This is a tough position to just step in and play as a true freshmen. They usually aren’t big enough.
My guess: Some of these kids are going to turn into solid MAC players. Some will not. Coaches probably already have a good idea. I have no problem with Loeffler, Malone, and Hedden trying to shore up this squad via junior colleges or wherever.
Re: Incoming
They shouldn't even be out there, they're not ready, and it's not their fault. Without looking, I'd be willing to bet BG is the only FBS or FCS school in the country starting 4 freshmen OL and a converted DL.Schadenfreude wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 10:55 pmYeah, pretty much. That's 8 sacks allowed now. We're going to get McDonald killed by the time this one is over.

It would help if we had a slant or a quick route in the playbook.
