Men’s soccer 2021

The Sun Belt discontinued men's soccer in 2020, which led Georgia Southern and Georgia State to affiliate with the MAC. With defending national champion Marshall and James Madison now headed for the Sun Belt, it looks like the Sun Belt is going to reboot men's soccer, with Georgia State and Georgia Southern presumably heading back to that league:

West Virginia was already departing. So, with only four MAC schools fielding men's soccer, the conference is going to have to find two more affiliates to maintain the automatic bid. (It would be nice if they could get West Virginia and Kentucky back, but who knows?)

Say what you want about the MAC. It's damn good in men's soccer.

BG defeated Louisville tonight for their first NCAA tournament win since 1997.

Falcons will now play at Indiana on Sunday.

MAC had a solid first round. Georgia State defeated Charlotte, NIU defeated Oakland, #11 WVU had a bye. Only team out is Akron after a 2-1 loss to Santa Clara.

Indiana is the #15 seed, which is a level that BG can definitely play with. Good opportunity Sunday to go out and make some waves.

In any case: Still a very good season for Bowling Green and for MAC men's soccer.
