Mullen is out.....

I've read that Don Brown, former DC at Boston College and Michigan is headed to UMass as HC. Good hire.

10% of FBS head coaches fired before the end of the season has to be some kind of record, no? Not a fan of that trend, personally, but I suppose if you know a coach is gone, no sense in waiting it out?

Few quick thoughts on Florida ....
- I would have said prior to this year that if some way some how in the future we were hiring and Dan Mullen were available, I would in a heartbeat support bringing him home. However this year he completely lost his team. He should rebuild his reputation somewhere and take a break from head coaching and be an assistant for a high profile coach. Just like Butch Jones. Then come back refreshed and ready to head a program again.
- Mario Cristobal would be a great hire for Florida. Of all the current head coaches, I have a hard time seeing a better fit
- I've read Mark Stoops as a candidate at Florida. I don't see that happening because Mark Stoops has the best job in college football. His bosses are happy with bowl games and the occasional big season, and he can leverage Kentucky basketball as a recruiting resource. I would never leave that job.
- is there any way whatsoever that Urban Meyer ducks out from Jacksonville after just one year and mend some ties with the Florida administration and return to Gainesville? Re-hiring coaches is in vogue right now and it's been working out pretty well at UNC.

Would Bob Stoops come out retirement for Florida? I have read Spurrier is pushing him.

Seems Mario could have choice between staying at Oregon, going to Florida or Miami by next week.

Or USC. They have to be tired of Oregon taking all the good California recruits.

Anxious to see what Florida does. The program has had a pretty low ceiling since Urban left. Been lapped by Alabama, Georgia, and until recently LSU in the SEC. Not sure it's the destination it used to be.

Gregg Brandon is 10-1 at the School of Mines in Colorado. Florida could tap into that Meyer coaching "bloodline" by hiring Gregg :)

I have to think Brandon is happy to retire in Colorado. I always liked the guy when he was here, he just lost control of the program off the field. He won games, made an exciting offense, and had a good coaching staff. So I'm genuinely happy to see him doing as well as he has. He had a QB win the D2 equivalent of the Heisman a few years ago.
