Fort Myers Invitational (11/23-11/24)
Fort Myers Invitational (11/23-11/24)
So, following the home loss to Norfolk State, our Falcons (1-3) head to Fort Myers to take on the Milwaukee Panthers (1-2). The game will tip at 2:30pm on Tuesday, November 23, but it doesn't look like our smaller "division" of this tournament will have any broadcasts anywhere.
With a win, we'd play the winner of Yale/Southern Utah, and with a loss, we'd play the loser. The 2nd game we play in this tournament will take place on Wednesday, at either 11:00am (with a loss) or 1:30pm (with a win).
Here's hoping this trip to the beach helps to unify the team and get things rolling.

No coverage at all? Bleh.
Hopefully we can find a way to get a couple wins.

I was considering staying back home (near BG) from Thanksgiving until Sunday to watch the team. Take my kids and dad.
I can't imagine how angry my dad would be watching this offense.

I do not understand how it is that we can all clearly see that the offensive system does not work - and yet it is the same year after year.
It's not a matter of the right personnel. It's the system itself. It does not generate open looks.
We can all see it. It's obvious as hell. So why does it not change?

Only thing I can figure is that this is Huger's preferred method of basketball. It's not without its merits, as much as it may infuriate all of us. We did have reasonable success this way in Turner's career. There are countless NBA teams (if not the majority of them) that have won championships this way. Putting the ball in the hands of your best player and letting them dictate tempo and control the game is a tried and true method of winning.
However, it puts a hard ceiling of your team on however good that best player is. If you do NOT have a guy capable of creating shots for himself and his teammates (and the basketball IQ to know when to do which), you're going to be severely limited, if not plain awful.
Also in the collegiate game, as things break down and tighten up it seems to me that more times than not the team that still sticks to its system is the one that comes out on top. This is different than in the NBA where the team with the best overall individual player will oftentimes come out on top in tight games.

Here's some sneak peak footage of the game, minus the made shot.

ROLL ALONG!!!

The media release from the team did not include a viewing option. IT did have a link to the Eagle 99.1 website for streaming audio.

I figured, thanks! We'll see if I can hide my BG ML+125 sweat with headphones in at work. Pretty jazzed it sounds like Matheny is back and Matiss is on the cusp of returning as well. Would be awesome if he suited up today. For all the cornball player nicknames the BGSU social media accounts come up with, "Latvian Laser" is an all timer.

ESPN Gamecast seems somewhat accurate---been half listening to Todd Walker/half following on Gamecast. 46-41 BG 15 minutes to go

Thanks. 51 - 41 us with 13:33 left. All 5 starters have hit at least 1 three.
Re: Fort Myers Invitational (11/23-11/24)
On a nice run now up 59-47.
Tough to know with certainty only listening on the radio, but it has been a welcome thing having Matheny back. He & Gordon in the backcourt together it sounds like they've facilitated some plays for their teammates.
We have 12 assists, which I think is more than we've had in our recent losses. And only 5 TOs which is a helluva lot better than we've had recently.
Also nice to have Plowden finally hitting some jumpers. Don't know if that's purely regression to the mean or if they're actually getting him better looks than he's had on the year thus far.
