From listening to Todd, Plowden seems to have found his shot a bit today. Go figure they sit up 12 against a team with a 5-star power guard, but can't handle Norfolk State.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

The style of play, much as it pisses all of us off, REQUIRED Kaden Matheny. I would always prefer a different offensive approach, but if you are going to put the ball in one guy's hands and ask him to orchestrate everything you better have somebody capable of doing that. Kaden can be pretty inefficient at times, but he IS capable of doing it.

Of course the major difference is we're shooting 43% from 3 today, and been closer to 25% on the season. Is that simply a good shooting night, or are we actually getting better shots to increase that percentage?

Was there in person. Much different team with Metheny back and Plowden at 100% ( he most certainly was not against Norfolk). Great defensive performance. Team is starting to gel.

That said, Southern Utah will present a different challenge. They are super athletic. We might have to have Plowden guard their point guard, as he might be able to bench press Metheny with 1 hand and Gordon with the other

Dribble handoff into dribble handoff into illegal screen.

Huh. A simple screen by O'neal to get Matheny a wide open three. Missed the shot, but it was simple, effective, good offense.

11 minutes into the game and I only now realized there are no announcers.

Man this is nice.

They pressed us. So we pressed them. Gotten like 2 turnovers and hiven up 1 hoop in about 5 possessiobs.

Also completed a PnR by getting the ball to the roll man under the hoop for an easy bucket. AND refused a few handofds / screens, which got the defense out of position enough for us to drive and get fouled 2 or 3 times here.

We are actually playing some offense!

We keep playing good enough defense to convince the to take guarded step back shots.... which they keep hitting.

We are down 3. Any kind of normal shooting from them and we are leading. Maybe by 5 or more.

Matheny closes the half with a drive through traffic and hits the layup.

We are down 42 to 38. A good 4 or 5 of their buckets were tough shots we want them to take that they just happened to hit. Only things I am unhappy with are 3 travels from careless footwork, and all the offensive rebounds / tapouts that their center is getting and turning into points for them.

We went quite a while with no center on the court for some reason and it hurt.

edit: By "no center" I mean neither Reece nor O'Neal.
