@ Duquesne (12/1)
On Wednesday, December 1, our Falcons (3-4) will head out on the road to Pittsburgh to take on the Duquesne Dukes (3-4) in another non-league contest. The game will start at 7:00pm, and it will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Here's hoping we can build on Sunday's win and turn it into a win streak. Go Falcons!

Will be there two rows up from the floor. Insane how cheap tickets were. Anyone else going?
I don't know anything about the Dukes other than their fan boards seem pretty optimistic about their squad this year.

Duquesne is a solid non-conference opponent. It'd be nice to get some home-and-homes with some A-10 schools.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

I think we've played VCU before. I know we've played a few of those schools in football (I know, not the same thing). I wouldn't mind playing Dayton on a regular basis since they are so close geographically. In fact, I think we should try to have more regular games against non-conference Ohio schools. Most of them are in the MAC, but we could try to play upper level schools like Ohio State, Dayton, and Xavier, and then we could play some lower level schools like Youngstown State, Cleveland State, and Wright State.
ROLL ALONG!!!
Re: @ Duquesne (12/1)
Home games with A-10 schools would cost money. Money Bill Frack gave for the exact purpose of buying home games against better opponents. Instead that money is spent on shoes and overpaying a mediocre coach. The Bill Frack Challenge is now Toledo. The MAC schedules it and it doesn't cost additional money. No worries, Oakland (premier out of conference home game), Bob Morris, and Carlow are headed to town to inflate Huger's record.

We should absolutely be playing these sorts of home games regardless of cost, given that it was exactly what Frack earmarked that money for.guest44 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 6:07 am Home games with A-10 schools would cost money. We overpay for Huger relative to his ability level, but I would like to keep our coach salary in the neighborhood he's in, I"d just want a good coach for our money.
In the end I think the home schedule is far less bout money and far more about inflating the record artificially. We could afford to spend to get home games if we were willing to do so. It's a lot easier to say you won a bunch of games when you schedule the creampuffs Huger likes to play against. Also nobody should think for a second that this habit doesn't play into our attendance issues either. What casual basketball fan is going to pay for tickets to see us play Carlow? What casual fans are going to buy season tickets when the entirety of the OOC schedule is crap game after crap game, when they KNOW they can simply buy individual tickets to the worthwhile opponents?
We had a good crowd when the Frack game was FGCU and it was a great atmosphere and game. We had a good crowd when the Frack game was Cincy. We had a good crowd when we managed to get MSU to the Stroh. We get good crowds for the good MAC games every year against Buffalo, Toledo, OU, etc, so long as we're playing good basketball and people want to see those matchups. If we built a perennially good team and had the balls to schedule worthwhile OOC opponents we'd get good crowds for those games as well, I don't doubt that for 1 second.
Re: @ Duquesne (12/1)
We should be playing as many local A10/Horizon/OVC opponents as possible. Home game one year, away game the next. Doesn’t cost any extra money and you can fill the schedule with quality opponents.

Does anyone in BG athletics actually give AF about doing things the right way?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

I wouldn't mind if we play a team like duquesne twice in a year with each team getting a home game. It helps prepare for the Mac slate when we have to play a team a second time and both teams still get a home game they want. 100% agree we need to playing teams from the a10, ovc, horizon, and mvc (think this is the big one to get with Indiana and Illinois teams).
For anyone going duquesne has a brand new arena this year and it looks really nice plus it's in the downtown area. Would not recommend getting a ticket at the gate though or using a non iPhone. However definitely recommend going if anyone is on the area

Not really. It's boost ego and resume for the next job. That's unless you are a member of the Kingston Crew. Then you just stay at BGSU because no better options arrive, and BGSU doesn't have standards, regardless of how poor you are at the job.

This game is moving quick.
With 14 to play in the first half, Duquesne leads 10-7.
BG jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, then the Dukes went on a 10-0 run.
Myron Gordon once again not available tonight.
