An optimistic analysis by the Blade
Bowling Green sports beat writer Corey Crisan offers a fairly optimistic assessment of the Bowling Green football program in this analysis, published yesterday:
https://www.toledoblade.com/sports/bgsu ... 0211129080
He argues Loeffler exceeded expectations in winning four games. "Most experts, forecasters, and
prognosticators thought of them as a two-, one-, or zero-win team in 2021," Crisan writes.
With another year to get bigger and stronger and add some talent, this team could achieve more in 2022, he says. Indeed, "with a plethora of youth on his roster and transfers to fill out, the Falcons could knock on the door of bowl eligibility once again for the first time since 2015," he writes.
Bowling Green's 2022 recruiting class currently ranks 9th in the MAC, according to Crisan -- not great, at least on paper -- but I would think this article helps coaches a bit as they go out there and try to lock down more talent.

The Blade beat writers usually treat the program with kid gloves. Wagner used to regularly defend Jinks...

I always liked Nick P's reporting on BG. It's a shame the Blade forced him out for speaking up against management.

Well, we moved up from ranking 126th in 2020 to 113th today. Half our existing O-line will be gone and our leading scorer is graduating, after near kicking perfection. Who wouldn’t be optimistic?
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

What’s the story with his ousting?
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: An optimistic analysis by the Blade
He spoke up publicly about the new ownership making unnecessary cuts, their treatment of the employees, and essentially purposely driving the paper into the ground so they could use more newswires and up their net profits. Like a week later he was removed from the sports altogether and they essentially stopped giving him assignments until he eventually quit along with about a dozen others at the Blade. At one point they rejected his request for a sick day when his newborn was ill and forced him to take unpaid leave.

According to The Blade, "barring transfers or other circumstances, the Falcons will return all five starters on their offensive line next season: left tackle Jeremiah Banks-Wall (will be a junior), left guard and Perrysburg graduate Cade Zimmerly (will be a sophomore), center Jalen Grant (will be a junior), right guard Malone VanGorder (will be a redshirt sophomore), and right tackle Jordan Murphy (will be a fifth-year senior following the coronavirus pandemic-awarded extra year of eligibility) lists."

“Barring transfers” is not exactly reporting anything. That’s been the topic of the day….. the o line exodus.

The line is staying.roguewarrior wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 5:22 pm “Barring transfers” is not exactly reporting anything. That’s been the topic of the day….. the o line exodus.
The exodus is of players who weren't playing on the line.
According to the Blade here is the starting offensive line:
-- LT Jeremiah Banks-Wall (2022 junior),
-- LG Cade Zimmerly (2022 sophomore)
-- C Jalen Grant (2022 junior)
-- RG Malone VanGorder (2022 RS sophomore)
-- RT Jordan Murphy (2022 fifth-year senior)
None of those guys are in the portal. Right?

They may all stay. They may all go. You have until May to exit.

Or, as the article put it: barring transfers the entire o-line returns. Right up there with your oatmeal.fredthefalcon wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 2:44 pmWow that statement is truly a FACT. Barring an earthquake or other circumstances, Bowling Green's next football game will be in the Rose Bowl against UCLA.
Barring a Chris Jans-type meltdown up or other circumstances, Scot Loeffler will be Bowling Green's head coach in that football game.

Barring a transfer or blah blah blah...is kind of a useless thing to write. It's kinda self evident
