That's a great hire. He has experience and success as a head coach and ties to the area. Also he's making $900k a year at Oregon, so either someone at Akron really stepped up with some money or he's willing to take a significant pay cut to be a HC again.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

It's solid. Arguably the toughest job in FBS. We'll see if he can turn it around.

Budget mismanagement aside I'm not sure why Akron has to be a tough job. Located near some great football talent. Great facilities. Akron basketball as a recruiting tool. There's no good reason outside of budget why Akron has to be bad. Bowden knocked off some power programs, won a bowl game and won a God-awful division. The right coach can make it a solid MAC program.

I was thinking the same thing. Akron doesn't exactly have a tradition of being a perennial football powerhouse, but they have everything in place for the right person to be able to make them a very competitive program in this league.

Moorhead wasn't real successful at Mississippi St., but had a couple of great seasons (before a rough last year) at Fordham. He had great offenses at Penn State and pretty good offenses at Oregon.

Have to believe Akron found some cash to pay him, no doubt more than what we can afford to pay at BG. Still, I'd vastly prefer a resume like this coming to BG than what we currently have.

I think the Akron problem (from a fan interest-fill the stadium perspective) is it is primarily a commuter school. Not much going on there student wise on the weekends. Just no football buzz there. That said, it took me asking 4 students at Miami the best way to the stadium, till I found one that new! Ha
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

He's never been here on staff, but his son was. And Loeffler served on staffs with him at Florida (09-10), Temple (2011), and Boston College (16-18).

Part of me wonders if Loeffler will give him a call if a spot comes open on his offensive staff. Not that it would be likely or the right thing to do, but it's something I could see happening.

Addazio fired for the second time since BGSU hired Loeffler to go 7-22. Colorado St still has standards.
