Add ATH Trey Johnson, brother of current RB Jamal Johnson.

While both can be classified as ATH's, Gardner is a WR and McKinnie is a RB.

That's a nice addition. Kind of a swiss army offensive weapon. I'm guessing he'll redshirt to add some muscle, but always good to add a solid athlete.

Attended more games than any responsible student should have.

“Athlete” means DB to me, most of the time.

I guess we'll wait and see what happens with Griffith. From the looks of it, all the early signees are in for the day.

Players have to be in Portal by May 1 to be eligible….. so we have until then to see who’s out there for the o-line, and hopefully a QB. I suspect big movement after teams spring ball finishes. Kids will know where they stand with new coaches, transfers in, etc.

We signed a lot of DB's...are we switching to a perma dime defense? :)

What happened to that QB that was “1000% committed “ to BG? Is he a 2023?

Also, weird……it looks like Kent only signed one kid that was committed to them…. Misprint? Kids bail? Did they screw the kids and say sorry? I hope not the latter, for a kids sake.

I’m reading about Loeffler’s quotes from his presser, and he said he expects that a good number (perhaps even all?) of today’s signees will be here in January ready to roll.

Good that so many of them are excited to get on campus to hit the weight room and get to work.

Loeffler press conference notes:

- Portal has changed the recruiting landscape. Basically sees it as college free agency. Thanked everyone behind the scenes who have helped sort things out. Been a difficult process.
- It was important to build last year with high school recruits. Program is now in better shape to be able to supplement via transfers. Believes having a strong foundation is important to the long-term success of the program. Could have attacked portal last year and won 9 games this year but long-term health of the program would have suffered.
- Three grayshirts this past year who got scholarships. Saad and two others.
- Sir was recruited by Ligashesky before he left.
- Bacon, Hilaire are enrolled currently. There are two OL commits that he cannot comment on yet as they're still going through the admission process. Same for a K (Rozanc) and another DB.
- Four open slots remaining in the class that they'll fill after the dead period ends in January.
- Building DB depth - believes Huskey can compete for a spot as a freshman. Wanted size and playmaking ability out of the secondary.
- Davon Ferguson has helped recruit some high school kids along with some transfers.
- High on Bainbridge - arm plus mobility.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

Thank you for this. Glad to hear we have a couple of OL commits. It sounds like he still holds out hope that some of the OLs we already have in the program will start one day, but that right now we need upperclassmen to help out.

We could have won 9 games last year . We chose not to. Jeez. So if everything has changed with the portal, why not go for it last year? What a load.

Because, he says, in his approach, Bowling Green will have talent in the program who can step in right away. If we had gone with transfers right away, we would have been in more of a rebuild situation once they left.

That's what he's saying. There may be some truth to that and some truth to the fact that he (like other coaches) is catching up to the fact that college football is basically a giant free agent market now.
