To me...it just sounds like more self serving BS...
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Loeffler actually said he could have won 9 games, which would have won the MAC East if he wanted to? This can't be real. It just can't be an actual quote. This guy is an overpaid used car salesman if he actually said this.

Yes he did say it.

https://twitter.com/BG_Football/status/ ... 37088?s=20 See around the 7:30 mark for the single biggest bullshit statement in the history of BGSU football.

The only school in the country where a coach who got smashed by 3 touchdowns at home by Akron, can claim he could have won 9 games, but did us a favor and won 4. That school could only be led by a guy named Robert Moosbrugger.

By all means check it out when the presser is on YouTube. He said it.

Only way I see we could've won 9 games this past year is if Loeffler could've recruited a better offensive philosophy from the portal to go with those transfers he talks about. What a load of crap.

Just say you didn't believe in program building through the portal previously but now realize it's not a choice anymore. This is one of those situations where the BS actually sounds far worse than the truth, Scot.

Anyways, welcome to BG to all the recruits. Hope they have a great time here and come to love BG as much as we all do. If they can be a part of winning some football games as well, all the better!

We all owe it to Scot Loeffler and Moose. They could be winning MAC Championships now, but instead they are building it up for the future. (Making sure they keep getting paid to be awful) When BG gets to the moon, will it have more than a 9-3 season? National Championship?

Well, with another year in the weight room and this years transfers….10 wins?
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.

To be fair, the “9 wins” comment sounded fairly hyperbolic. He was more referring to the fact that we could’ve gone into win-now mode, but the program would’ve paid the price.

I get what he’s saying. We could’ve short-cutted this and taken guys last year, but the long-term impact on the program of bringing in 1-2 year guys would have been stunted growth instead of bringing in young guys that will be here 4-5 years and grow as the program grows.

This guy really has the long-term idea in mind. Let’s just hope it works.

Win now mode? This is football. What the hell are we waiting for? If you can win now you win now and worry about 2024 in 2024. The sport is free agency. 75 percent of these people listed won’t finish at BGSU. The MAC East had multiple coaches leave. The division was total dog crap.

If in some miracle Scot won 10 games next year. He would bail on the program at the first offer, mass exodus will occur, and BG will start all over again.

Back in reality, Scot is 7-22 making over 500K talking to BGSU fans like they are stupid or as soft as Bob Moosbrugger is.

"Athlete" just means he can play multiple positions and isn't being pigeonholed into just one recruitable category. It's usually a guy who has the ability to play multiple spots. Some schools will sign ATH's but recruit them for a specific position, while others simply recruit a guy as an ATH and will find the positional fit down the road. The ATH table usually breaks down with an offensive and defensive pairing such as:

QB/DB
RB/DB or RB/LB
WR/DB
TE/DE or TE/LB
OL/DL

More often than not, ATH often refers to skill players, but not in all cases.

When I say “I know what he’s saying”, please don’t mistake that for me rooting for with what he’s saying. BG was 12-36 during my time on campus, from falls 2016-2019. I’m as ready as anyone for a winner.

I just think there’s nuance in every conversation, and there are two sides to every story. I think what he’s saying is valid, but like you are all saying (and as I feel), it’s time to win. We absolutely must be playing in a bowl and competing for a MAC East title next season. We now have the talent and relative experience to do so, so that’s the bar.

I also won’t be shocked if we live up to that. There’s some real talent on the depth chart for next fall, if things stay relatively the same with what it looks like right now. McDonald needs to take a step forward, the offensive line needs to get bigger and stronger (and more effective) and the defense needs to become the lockdown defense they have the potential to be. If that happens, we can beat anyone in this conference.

I’m as excited for the 2022 season as I have been in years. This should be a great squad that takes a big step forward. If not… we’ll reevaluate.

Fair enough, but why in the world would you say that? 9 wins? The MAC champ often doesn't win 9 games in this era of getting drilled in fund the program games. It's a complete lack of awareness similar to the rant about Babers. Talk about anything other than how you could have won 9 games as a coach who has actually won 7 in 3 years. He just isn't polished in anything. Media, coaching, use of timeouts. You name it, he doesn't act like a head coach who wins.

After watching the press conference again. He actually said "could have easily won 9 games" A Bowling Green football coach said those words. A Bowling Green football coach who is 7-22. A Bowling Green football coach who has lost to Akron two years in a row. The verbal diarrhea that will come from this guy when he is finally let go will be something.
