LOIs have been returned for 5 freshman for next season. I'd say the only surprise is the absence of Blake Emerson, for now.

I noticed Blake Emerson missing as well and looked him up on Elite Prospects and HockeyDB. Doesn't look like he's playing this season? Am I reading this right? I also checked the Wild roster and while Quinn shows up, Blake doesn't. Also, Heisenberg shows him as a scratch.

That I don't know. Usually, the best way to find recruit information is simply stalking them on social media. He's not active on Twitter though.

Austin Swankler made the NCAA best men's college hockey players at each position through the first half of the season all freshman team. I sure hope he comes back for his sophomore season.

Also, a total of 5 of the 18 selections are from the CCHA (McKay only got an honorable mention so it looks like he's unlikely to be the Richter winner). Here's a breakdown by league:

Nacho - 6
CCHA - 5
B1G - 3
HE - 2
ECAC - 1
Independent - 1

I read an interview someone did with Swankler, and he said the thing he enjoys about college hockey is being able to spend 4 years with the same group of people. Hopefully that means he is thinking of staying for a bit.

Michigan just cancelled their GLI showcase game against Western because of the 5 players on the world juniors.

They didn’t cancel their match against Tech.

Detroit News: "Combined with other injuries and illnesses, the Michigan athletic department was concerned about the hockey tem playing games on back-to-back nights."
Wha??

A separate article says "Pearson said a number of factors went into the decision — mainly, roster depletion, with five players in the since-canceled World Juniors, as well as multiple injuries, as well as some COVID-19 cases. A lack of practice time, given the roster issues, was a concern, too, with the team coming back from holiday break." The decision was not the team's. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sport ... 057199002/

And yet, they still dressed 18 non-goalies against Tech. They were afraid of getting beat by a good WMU team, plain and simple.

With COVID-19 infections increasing like mad, I won't attend the Bemidji games. Probably not the Mankato games, either. Time to check out monthly Flo.

With 2:30 left, Bergeron and Barry had a 2 goal lead at home against Mercyhurst tonight and lost in OT.

Seems like a trend with them. Miami's epic national title game collapse, our horror show in Mankato, and now this.

Certainly smaller stakes, but it's hard to lose that way.

Reading their message board, the Miami State faithful are split into 3 camps:

1) Ride it out, we're in the greatest college hockey conference on planet Earth and Berge will get us to the promised land!!!
2) This sucks, we need to be in the CCHA
3) Time for Bergeron to go.

With each drubbing they endure the avid "Stay with the Nachos!" supporters become less avid and the number of "Move to the CCHA" supporters grows. Not a lot of people calling for his head but I find it interesting how some have soured on him in such a short time.

I don't know how Berge and Barry turn the corner down there. They're apparently being forced by the AD to run the program on fewer dollars. And it's not like UND, UMD, SCSU, and UD (DU?) are suddenly going to all start sucking or spending less.

Who makes it to the NCAAs first, Miami State or St. Thomas? Tough call, but I'm going with Rico.
