We haven't replaced everyone who left but I think the question is whether we need to. It may be that we have enough talent in the program to improve and compete for a bowl game while hitting this need harder with our 2023 class. I'm speculating here. If we know one thing about Scot Loeffler is that he takes a long view of things. If he felt we needed more true freshmen in the program at OL so that we are in better shape four years hence, he'd surely be going after them.

I also know that it's early. There is plenty of time to go after more talent if the need exists. Does anyone know how many more people we can bring in for 2022?

Four more open slots. Loeffler commented at his press conference that they plan on using two of those for big guys. Recruiting dead period ends January 13th.

Don't think they'll replace one for one either with the kids who have left. Bringing in linemen who are ready to play is going to reduce the need to have four deep at each position because of inexperience, etc. I count 13 OL right now on the roster not including the two new additions. Roll with 15-16 OL and use the remaining available scholarships to bring in some skill guys, or improve depth on the defense.

I would hold off just yet on the bowl game hotel reservations. Just because we have new faces, doesn’t mean they can play. They missed horribly on one transfer from last year. Also, same as our QB…. What if one goes down? You will also probably lose at least one more existing o lineman before May…. I would load up on the o-line. Lay off on another TE for one cycle…..

There will probably be more kids in the portal after the bowl games are done.

Offer in for Georgetown OL Mac Hollensteiner (what a name). He has several other offers from other G5 schools. 6-6, 310.

Looks like Riley Keller has committed to Tiffin. Good young man. Hope he does well there.

Jaylen Lawson is entering the portal. I didn’t even know the name. I looked him up on the roster and I guess he took a gap year after high school. Didn’t play at all this year.

I believe he was a PWO. I recall him signing after taking a year off. Was a high level player at a smaller school in Kentucky but probably didn't have much of a chance to see the field. Best of luck to him at his next stop.

Nice...Tiffin plays in the GMAC. They have a Roku channel (a lot of NAIA conferences do) where you can stream live or archived games. IWe'll actually be able to see the kid play QB.

Sure would like to see a QB come in to push McDonald

Nice! He's by far the most experienced and proven of the OL that are coming in. It looks like he's a center, so I'd expect Grant to move back to OG, which is where the coaches said he will be an All-Conference player down the road for us.

I'd really like to see us add a QB transfer now. I like the additions we've made through the portal again this far, but I really think our next move on the team needs to be a transfer QB. We not only need someone to push McDonald on this roster (because I don't think there's anyone remotely doing it right now), but we're also one injury to McDonald away from being in a massive mess on offense without him.

I agree with this. More competition at the most important position is good. Even though we have 3rd year Tucker Melton still in the room, I’d like for there to be multiple options at QB in the event of a catastrophe.

We had 7 or 8 QB's on the roster this year and none of them were developed enough to take over when the starter broke his hand? I would say getting a proven commodity at that position is imperative...

Why is it that our QB coach head coach can’t pick or groom a QB ? At this moment, we are Fubar if 7 year veteran Mcdonald breaks his other wrist.
