vs. Akron (12/29)

Post by mbenecke »

On Wednesday, December 29, our Falcons (7-4) will return home to take on the Akron Zips (7-3) in the MAC opener. The game will tip at 7:00pm inside the Stroh Center. It is slated to be broadcast on ESPN3 or ESPN+.

Akron is a solid squad, as always. They pushed Ohio State in Columbus before a 1-point loss, then stacked some impressive wins against teams like Marshall, Evansville, and Wright State in addition to some weird losses to Fordham (by 20) and App State (by 14).

Regardless, this will be a challenge. Akron was picked to finish one spot ahead of us in the MAC preseason poll, so getting a win here, at home, to open conference play, would be just huge for us.

Go Falcons! Beat Akron.

Even though it is on our court, beating Akron would open some eyes.

Akron canceled their last non conference game due to Covid. Worth keeping an eye on.

Good news is that we still have been able to control the cases on our team and hopefully that stays true after the holiday season. Huger has always been extra cautious and it's paid off so far

This bums me out, and also scares me for the season. Obviously NE Ohio (really all of Ohio) is exploding with COVID, so not surprised to see Akron dealing with it. Hope everybody is safe and mild symptoms for them.

Worried though that our season ticket plans will end up being largely a donation. We've already missed a few games due to our own COVID issues, now I have a hunch this will not be the first MAC game postponed. And if too many of them get postponed re-scheduling will prove unfeasible.

F*** COVID
