I blame Jinks...or Dino Babers.

Either that or...it's part of the plan...the five year Dave Clawson plan that's been rendered somewhat obsolete by the xfer portal

Why is it that our QB coach head coach can’t pick or groom a QB ? At this moment, we are Fubar if 7 year veteran Mcdonald breaks his other wrist.
Our QB Coach head coach has no track record of doing either of those things. Tom Brady was in his wedding and Urban Meyer let him carry Tebow's bible during practice. Beyond that the dude has bounced from job to job coaching crappy QBs and leading crappy offenses.

You could make an argument that MacDonald's 2021 season was a top 1-2 QB season for any Loeffler led offense in his career.

I would hope that we go into next season with a competent backup to MacDonald. I would prefer somebody that actually PUSHES him because I don't think he's all that good, but I'd settle for somebody that can at least come in and not tank the offense if MacDonald has to miss a game or two. Especially in a world where we aren't 100% certain that a positive COVID test can cost you a game or two; having viable depth is more important than ever.

I also hope we find another experienced OL in the portal. I would like there to be an open competition between multiple guys for all 5 spots along that line. It was brutally bad this year, that cannot happen again if we're hoping to win games.

By my count there are three open spots still available for transfers. We'll see what happens. It was a bummer that BG lost out on Cole Snyder. He would have easily pushed McDonald in camp. I'll have to spend some time looking at the available QBs in the portal and see if there's anyone worth offering.

Connor Bazelak from Mizzou is in the portal, too. Originally from Dayton, and I think would be a great MAC QB. Loeffler seems very loyal to/enamored with McDonald, though, so I don't expect a change at the top. That said, McDonald was much better this year and if he has the same kind of jump to next year, I think he will be a very solid QB.

McDonald has been in Loeffler's system for what... 10 years? I think he's as good as he's gonna be...

A familiar name is in the portal - Logan Holgorsen. Was once a BGSU commit in 2018 and then wound up at Houston.

Didn't he transfer after last season?

Winning that last game really fooled some people. It’s going to be the same frustrating offense next year. Only chance is to win the turnover battle and hope the other team can’t throw. That may happen in a couple MAC games, but it’s going to be 3-4 win team.

On Holgorsen - his dad (Dana) is the head coach at Houston.

Doege has taken a ton of flack from the WVU fans. Things aren't great in Morgantown with 30 players leaving the program in 2021. Neal Brown is on the clock.

Veasley will be a hot commodity on the transfer market given his success at Duquesne.

I assume that was a sarcastic comment. He's only thrown 1 pass for 7 yards in his three seasons at Duquesne.
GO BG!!!
