Hoping your daughter is on the mend.
Attendance was nearly 3700 tonight. I'll say that the number of people wearing masks tonight was significantly higher than the OSU game. But it wasn't 100%. This is despite the Scooter video encouraging everyone to mask up. JFC, how can people ignore Scooter?!?

It's literally nothing more than a mind game to make people "feel safe" when out in public. It's like a little kid that needs to carry their blanket everywhere "to be brave." It's a respiratory virus, that acts like every other respiratory virus in history. Each mutation gets less severe, yet more contagious (until something else intervenes and causes a stronger mutation). It's not a matter of IF you get it, but when.

Sam Evola just committed to BG and he’s already listed on the roster, so I would imagine he’s going to follow a similar path to Jack Blake where he redshirts before becoming a full member of the team in the fall.
He’s a goalie, and he’s out of Detroit. That’s all I really know about the guy.

Seeing as how he has a number, perhaps the injury to Rose is bad enough to keep him out for awhile.mbenecke wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 11:59 am Sam Evola just committed to BG and he’s already listed on the roster, so I would imagine he’s going to follow a similar path to Jack Blake where he redshirts before becoming a full member of the team in the fall.

13-8-0-1 in 24 games played. 1384 minutes played this season. 2.73GAA and .917 Save percentage. Should be a solid goaltender.

Re: 2021-2022 Season
I agree with the speculation that Rose's injury may be more substantial than first thought. Not sure what to make of Evola. He's an '01 birthday which means this is his last year of juniors (someone may want to check my math). He's a career NAHL kid (vs. USHL) so not sure how the numbers translate but what he's posting looks pretty decent. I'm a tad surprised he's a) available right now with no other teams having shown interest and b) willing to jump into the mix mid-season. Also, this makes things interesting for next year with 3 goaltenders (I'm purposely leaving out Peter Eigner from the conversation). This harkens back to the Burke/Nell/Sholl seasons.
I'm all over the place on this, not entirely sure what to make of it.

It does sound like Salvatore Evola has indeed joined the roster for the rest of the season. Very interested to see if he ends up playing at all, and how it shakes out next year with all 3 guys being eligible to return.

Re: 2021-2022 Season
Update on how the guys that constituted the mass exodus from the program at the end of last year are doing. My ratings are subjective. Included last year's numbers for comparison.
Having a pretty good year:
Doing OK:
Not sure what to say:
The biggest surprise to me is Johnson. He's been a healthy scratch a number of times this season. I know Wisconsin is lousy but I figured he'd be a net positive for them. The next biggest surprise is Wright. For a guy who isn't the best skater he sure has a knack for finding the back of the net.

With 7 min left in the second period Berge and Barry are down 8-1 to St. Cloud. What a mess down in Oxford.

Anybody watch the Ferris Bemidji game? We’ll have our hands full next weekend. Ferris played very well.

The way these games are played, every game is going to be a handful, regardless of opponent.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 10:19 pm Anybody watch the Ferris Bemidji game? We’ll have our hands full next weekend. Ferris played very well.

Bergeron was very very lucky the CCHA disbanded and BG was able to join the WCHA. Playing top 20 programs every other weekend is difficult and the WCHA schedule helped BG get the program back above .500.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 9:50 pm With 7 min left in the second period Berge and Barry are down 8-1 to St. Cloud. At Miami Berg is facing top 20 programs every weekend. He’s not outcoaching anyone and now his talent is beneath his opponents. With the recruiting cycle being 3-4 years out, his only hope is that he is nailing his commitments.
BG would be in a similar situation if they were in the NCHA. Almost every weekend you are playing a team that makes you pay for a bad period. You play flat for a period and you are giving up 2-3 goals. Mankato is the only team in the CCHA that is like that.

Wow. Ferris swept Bemidji, and is now tied with Northern in the league standings. This season keeps getting crazier.
