Is Buckley's job on the line? He's been recruiting well and has had some hard luck with injuries. BSU is off from their glory days, but a MAC program would be very hard pressed to find someone better at $125K.OptionQB wrote:Dan was pretty blatant and forthcoming in his defense of Tim Buckley as a head coach too in the postgame, which was re-broadcast on Tuesday right before his interview with the two worst radio hosts in NW Ohio.

Don't Worry about the band
I never hear DD's radio show, but I have seen his TV show. He does make for a darn good interview and a good show.
BUT what in the world is the coach doing bad-mouthing the band? Especially when you consider the team stunk it up the last few games of the regular season.
I wonder if he isn't taking a page from Bobby Knight and creating a distraction by putting the attention on the coach instead of the kids.

I think Buckley is a great coach, and I would be shocked if his job was on the line. I think it's impossible for one team to stay on top of the conference forever (which makes Kent's run so impressive), so I wouldn't burn Buckley too much for the post-Theron Smith/Chris Williams/Petey Jackson era's lack of success...
I thought they were well-coached and talented this year, and could have made a run; just had one too many injuries.
And he's a helluva guy, and I know Dak has a lot of respect for him and his program.

How in the hell can this clown jump on the band????? First he rips them and then he tries to suck up to them. Those are some great comments from a coach whos team has just lost 4 of their last 5. From my experiences in Athletic band a few years ago (and yes I do have a bias here) there is little contact between the table and the band. I know there is a script given to the director at each game but thats not all that impressive. A radio and head set solves that problem and I have seen it done at other places. We were also told to be careful in what we did because it could look bad on the school as well as hurt the team, ie technical foul. That has been stated before and it does kill enthuiasm. Why would you kill the most consistent group that attends your games? Especially with the crappy seasons they have been through. Do you hear him ripping the student body apart for their lack of attendance? Do you hear him rip the lack of voacl enthuiasm from our older fans in the upper level? Who is next, the cheerleaders, the dance team? We have a coach who is watching another season gett flushed down the toilet and is trying to take the focus of criticism off of that. He has had some of the best team in the MAC and hasn't produced a single NCAA tournament team, not one. I know there are some on here that will light me up for this post and I really don't care. This guy is a hemroid on the ass of BGSU athletics and needs to be sent to the proctologist. Imagine how much better off we would have been had he stayed on those "country roads." We can only hope this is taken care of soon.

Dumb. DD turned a low-talented team into a contender this year. Is that a "hemroid"? His best team was that of 2001-02, and we all know they got shafted by the selection committee. So, if you are going to get so damn defensive about critism of the band, THE FREAKIN BAND, which was CORRECT, you need to sit down, have a beer, and perhaps pop a Xanax. He is simply trying to make for the best atmosphere he can in the sh!thole we all truly love, AA.Finally in 04 wrote:How in the hell can this clown jump on the band????? I am not argueing that this was a team low on talent and high on heart. They just ran out of gas in the tank and many of us say that comming a few games ago. That still doesn't mean ripping another group who consistently shows up to support the team no matter how bad is right.DD turned a low-talented team into a contender this year.
That was a great team that did get shafted with 22 wins in the regular seasons. But, that is what frustrates me more. We got all the way to the titla game and get beat by 11 to Kent State who was not so bad either. No matter how good of a team we are he has not been able to get us the BIG win in a championship game. His best team was that of 2001-02, and we all know they got shafted by the selection committee.
He isn't trying to make the atmosphere at Anderson Arena better. We had no more games at home when he made those comments. He was trying to take the focus off the team that had tanked at the end of the season and was going home early again. Some criticism is a good thing. But has he sat down with the people who run the band? I doubt it. No he just went out and ran his mouth in public like tends to happen. He is simply trying to make for the best atmosphere he can in the sh!thole we all truly love, AA.
So yes I stand by my hemroid comment, and no xanex is needed....yet. I guess we will just have to afree to disagree on this one.

Finally,
As I posted originally, "NO HARM, NO FOUL"
His "criticism" of the band as actually a compliment to the rowdy kids that were at the Ball State game. Unless you heard the comments first hand I don't think it is fair for you to rip Dakich like that unless you heard the interview, because taking comments like that out of context is unfair.
Again as to Dakich's comments- "No Harm, No Foul"

I agree, although I am the person who started the post. I didn't think people would rip Dakich for his comments. Was just trying to tell the bank that Dakich feels they should be more energetic during the game. The band used to be into the games until that fiasco with Ohio U band
