Anthony Stacey
Re: Anthony Stacey
I actually really like the idea of Archie Miller. He was stellar at Dayton because he could recruit terrific 3-star caliber players, but he failed at IU because he couldn't recruit 5-stars. BG would be a nice place for him to rebound. Plus he's a solid X's and O's guy, which aside from one year of Jans, we haven't seen here in a while.

I think Anthony Stacey can recruit and the players love him. Look at his interactions when he is sitting court side at our games. We just don’t know what else he brings. Maybe a great X’s and O’s Guy is what we need. We don’t have great talent so we need someone who can make them better. I think it would take us a few years to figure out if Stacey can do it. Do we want to take that risk and wait it out?BillyLP wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 10:38 am I actually really like the idea of Archie Miller. When Stacey was on Huger's staff, he asked the AD that he be interviewed if the head position ever opened up. They told him no. That was part of his incentive to leave.

Surprising given Moosbrugger choose to hire an alum over a more qualified assistant coach for the hockey opening.BleedOrange wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:19 pm When Stacey was on Huger's staff, he asked the AD that he be interviewed if the head position ever opened up. When thta glorious day finally comes...we need to replace Huger with a coach with proven recruiting ability and a sense of where he wants to be from an X's and O's POV.
I wonder if John Beilein would want to step out of the Pistons front office to give college coaching another try

I don't understand this.BleedOrange wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:19 pm When Stacey was on Huger's staff, he asked the AD that he be interviewed if the head position ever opened up. They told him no. That was part of his incentive to leave.
a) Why would he ask?
b) Why would they say no?
Re: Anthony Stacey
He'd ask because he's interested in the job. And maybe he had a feeling Huger would be leaving sooner rather than later, at that point. Not sure he would've envisioned this current mess being the reason why, though.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:51 pmI don't understand this.BleedOrange wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 2:19 pm When Stacey was on Huger's staff, he asked the AD that he be interviewed if the head position ever opened up. Not sure why they would've said no in that moment, though. Obviously you can't (shouldn't?) guarantee someone a job, but saying you won't even interview them when there's an eventual opening seems... really bizarre.

Re: Anthony Stacey
Did he ask the actual AD, or did he ask the guy doing the maneuvers for the AD, Kit Hughes?
