If they have already started some of the process they’d be pressing to get it done by next season. If they haven’t begun bids, etc yet, I’d give almost zero chance it is done before the start of the year and likely won’t be complete til 21-22. . So much red tape trying to get anything built at the university.

As of today the project bid has not been submitted. With the mini sheet having its floor, pipes, and the building’s ice making equipment being replaced this summer I’d be surprised if the work got underway that soon. I think 2021-2022 is more likely, especially if there’s some more donations that they want to wrap up.

As someone who remembers seeing the blueprints for boxes in that south end it’s kind of surreal that the project is seemingly going to happen finally.

If they’re able to find the money for the other phases then BG is going to have one of the nicest facilities in college hockey.

Definitely some bait and switch last night. What was billed as an announcement of the renovations was an announcement of raising more money before they even consider actually doing the renovation. Wasnt worth waiting around to see renderings we had already seen to hear moose and the prez mealy mouth around the fact that nothing is actually happening.

They said last night that they have already received the money for 3 of the 7 million required to complete the project. They said they need another 2 million before they can start bidding it out to contractors.

Let’s hope they get there soon. Would be really nice to see that done in the next few years.

Considering how well the “Bring Back the Glory Campaign” went 10 years ago, they will probably have to cut scholarships again from the non-revenue sports in order to raise the money for the renovation.

Meh. They are a hell of a long way from actually doing anything. Last night could have been done better with a tweet saying "we haven't raised nearly enough money, it'll be years yet before we actually do anything. Refer back to the ideas weve already released, but odds are different people will be in charge then and it'll all change!"

Considering the BG is a powerhouse NCAA hockey program with several significant NHL alums, it shouldn’t take more than a couple weeks to raise that money. Haha.

I was hoping for more information than the two renderings we've seen before.

It was played over the speakers. The actual organ has always remained in the building, up above the pro shop. It's just too old, it doesn't work anymore. Pretty unfortunate.

Agree completely! Just ask how the “Knock it Out of the Park” baseball improvement project after a $1 million gift went. I don’t have a lot of faith in our ”development“ in the athletic department.

No one I’d rather have heading up the renovations than Bob. Thing will get done once the University agrees to pay for it. Just like the bring back the glory campaign. Nearly nothing was raised. All the money came from cutting scholarships from other sports.

The fact that they already have $5M for renovations is pretty impressive to me.
