Heard today they are leaving, and rumors of others as well.

Yeah, that's been official for a few days and is already addressed in the offseason thread.

Not surprising and seems MH is not doing a very good job of managing personnel. Meanwhile, our 1st choice, Chris Jans of whom could have been suspended 5 games (ie Michigan) smelling like a rose.

Open hand slapping another adult male is FAR less egregious than committing sexual assault on a much younger woman. They shouldn't even be brought up together at all.

My mistake, I had forgotten she pressed charges for sexual assault.

She chose not to press charges...that does not mean an assault didn't occur...it very clearly did.

Let's not forget that Jans made no effort to fight his termination.

I'm with diemilkweed and the other people who remain flabbergasted by the people who wanted to keep this drunken goof around because he was a winning coach

The person in the video was at the bar with Jans and the grad assistant. No charges were brought because she was with him. It just wasn't his wife.

The issue with whole incident was the family looking to stir up trouble and confronting him. It was a bad deal on all accounts. Jans shouldn’t have put himself in that situation and the family were a bunch of losers looking to get someone in trouble.
Ideal world, Kingston gets an email saying Jans was drunk in public and wasn’t representing BGSU properly. Kingston addresses it with Jans and he straightens himself out. Everyone moves on and BG probably has a tourney appearance or two by now. Unfortunately that isn’t what happened. Guy made a mistake and paid a huge price for it….glad he rebounded and got another shot.

I dislike the mentality that all sexual assault is the same, as is being implied here. It diminishes the truly traumatizing incidents by conflating them with stuff like what Jans did. (Although what Jans did the paragon of stupidity. )

That's why they have different degrees of criminal charges. A lesser degree of sexual assault is a lesser degree of sexual assault...you don't criticize people for calling a third degree homicide or manslaughter a crime because it isn't 1st degree murder...

The person involved was a grad assistant? So...it's ok to assault a subordinate?

I don't know how to respond to some of these comments. As the father of a daughter who was the victim of a sexual assault for which the perpetrator went completely unpunished, I fully admit to my biases. Bottom line for me: I'm glad that POS is no longer at my alma mater and I'm proud of how quickly they flushed him out of town. He was a highly visible representative of the University in a position of power and authority which he then used in situations where his behavior was borderline criminal. I don't give a s**t how many silly little bouncy ball games it may or may not have cost us. At least this POS paid a menial price for his actions; too many don't. He committed a sexual assault and thankfully got caught; making excuses for him or deflecting blame onto other uninvolved actors is BS.

I edited this post over 30 min. This is the tamed down version. You should have seen the first draft...

The grad assistant is a male, the other person in the group is female. Jans is grabbing ass with the female who was with them. The Tiller family was sitting next to them. They were aware the woman was not his wife because the Tiller son dated a girl who worked at the bar. Jans frequented the bar. The Tiller daughter approached Jans regarding it not being his wife on video. Watch the video. No charges were ever even discussed. At any point.

This is mostly correct. The story is that there were more actions outside of the video including him pushing a woman's head towards his crotch and asking another woman to walk for him so he could look at her ass. Sexual assault charges were never discussed, though.

Apologies to the group for my rant, I was obviously worked up over some of the comments. I'll return to the hockey threads.

No charges were filed...Which doesn't mean the act of grabbing a woman's ass w/o her consent isn't an assault.

My sensibilities on this are also shaped by personal experience with my daughter...an incident occurred on her HS property..
The administration essentially took the side of the perp. We rode their asses about it until...finally..the kid plead no contest to the charges and were able to force them to expel the freak. We took it to the media in our best effort to humiliate them publicly
And yes...my daughter was 100% on board.
