Bringing a program D1 without a concrete plan to join a conference is foolish. All your doing is wasting money. ASU thought they’d get a conference invite by now…there is massive frustration in Tempe that they are still independent.
The leagues can whine, bitch, and moan all they want about it, it won't change the fact they would get an AQ. If the other leagues don't want them to throw something together to get an AQ, they better start adding teams to their conferences.
Well it’s not realistic that the current independents would form a conference anyway. Not sure Alaska schools ever get back in a league and I wouldn’t be surprised if they are gone again in a few years. Same for Huntsville.

Maybe if there were some more realignment and the CCHA went after say Robert Morris and Canisius it may open up a
a couple spots for Long Island, Augustana or Lindenwood in the AHA.

Miami definitely wants out of the NCHC…costs too much and Bergeron knows he’s got no chance there. Arizona State would happily jump in or Mankato possibly. If I’m Mankato, I’m perfectly happy where I’m at. Dominating the CCHA and in the national tournament every year.

Wow looks like a little OHL backlash by the coaches against Swankler for rookie of the year. Guy that finished 5 points behind him won.

More than 50 players already in the transfer portal, should the staff want/need to bring in players from the outside they'll have some options.

Cam Babiak entered into the portal yesterday. We wish him well.

Gopher Puck Live devotes a thread to the portal, looks like they have an insider who shares the details. https://www.gopherpucklive.com/forum/vi ... &start=375

I did some quick Excel work and summarized the postings in GPL by school going back to 1/1/22. While I came away with 83 players, it is likely a lot of them may no longer be in the portal so I'd still go with your count of 50+. There are seven (7) players from the Fighting Rico's who are in the portal, six from Ferris (most of whom look to be finding a place for graduate school), 2 from the Lakers including Jacob Nordqvist who is also likely looking for a place to land for graduate school. Phil Knies who spent 4 years at Miami State then transferred to Bentley and was subsequently a medical redshirt apparently still has eligibility left and is in the portal where he hopes to complete his sixth year of studies.

I also dumped the names of all the players posted on GPL but figured I'd just post the summary. LMK if you're dying for the details.

Not surprised at all. Coaching staff seems committed to Lloyd, Malmstrom, Parker, Wozney, and Coyle playing a majority of games. Daly was ahead of him for playing time, and with Blake and Norris coming in next season, probably doesn't see any chance of playing.

Not surprised. When I talked with his dad, there was a clear frustration between Adam being injured a lot and not really getting much of an opportunity to play when he was healthy. Hope he lands on his feet somewhere.

The junior class seems to be clearing out a bit. I expect to hear at least one more name in the portal or no longer on the team shortly.

Division I
Impermissible inducement and benefits violations
Alaska Fairbanks, the head men's ice hockey coach and the NCAA enforcement staff agreed that the men's ice hockey coaching staff violated impermissible inducement and benefits rules when they arranged free or reduced-cost lodging for at least 18 incoming prospective student-athletes to stay with representatives and current student-athletes before the school's dorms opened for the fall semester. The impermissible benefits totaled more than $2,000. As a result of the violations, eight student-athletes competed and received actual and necessary expenses while ineligible.

Additionally, a representative of the school athletics interests provided an impermissible benefit by allowing three student-athletes to use their vehicle on an as-needed basis for at least 15 days.

This goes back to 2017-18 so outside the scope of NIL.
